This afternoon we had a storm here in Toronto. It just came out of nowhere...but when I looked out the window it really scared me. It looked like the gates of hell had just opened up...it was pitch dark...with howling winds..that shook the house. The rain was pelting the windows...and flooding the streets. There was lightening. I actually got really scared...and went back into the living room....My question is do storms scare you? Do you think something horrible is going to happen?

If it's raining, thunder and lightening no problem I'm not too worried about those things but when the wind gets excessive and there's talk about tornados I'm looking for the big red panic button ! I am scared spitless of tornado's. I hope you weren't home alone when this scared you. There's really nothing worse than feeling scared and having no one around.

Storms never scare me. I have even been through a tornado. And snowstorms driving from Windsor to Montreal. The clouds, the wind, the thunder, the rain ...when it comes, it can be wild. I don't pray for storms, but when they come, I accept them as part of living and as a display from nature.

I have to say that I love weather that is out of the ordinary. In the uK we have a lot of different types of weather and talking about the weather is a national passtime! But I really do like things that are different especially thunderstorms or hail and the like. Obviously I don't like it when things are damaged or people are hurt, but I think it is fascinating just how quickly things change and when you get to see a small glimpse of the force of nature. I work in a high rise building and it is amazing to watch a storm approach as quite frequently it will be perfectly sunny on one side of the building but totally dark and eerie on the other. Lightening is exciting too, I like trying to take photographs of it. I know there are many varying degrees of storm severity, and by global standards the experiences we have in the UK are usually not that extreme which is why I like them, so no offence to anyone in other countries that experience more serious situations.

I dont like being scared. But I do wonder why animals get so disturbed by thunder storms. My cats always seek refuge under a sturdy piece of furniture. Do they know something I dont.
