Been there, done that. My fiance' and I had to endure a year of being away from each other. We were already planning our wedding then when the approval of my overseas employment application came out. It was a very hard decision for me. I was torn between having to stay with my fiance' and carrying on with the wedding, and the other, grabbing the opportunity to fulfill my dream of giving a better life to my family. Eventually, I chose the latter and worked abroad. We still kept our relationship srong through chat, texts and phone calls. After stacks and stacks of phonecards and telephone bills accumulating, he decided to follow me here. We got married and now we're almost celebrating our anniversary! :p

I think that if you and your special someone are really meant to be together, no amount of distance can separate you.
At least that's what I'm hoping for. My boyfriend and I are about to undergo a four-year, thousand-mile separation. I'm going to the States for my PhD, and he's staying in the country for work. But we're going to get married as soon as I'm done, so I hope this works out.
If it doesn't, then it's ok, too. I think God has a plan for me, and if it means having another guy, or living a single life, then maybe that's what I'm meant to have.
I just hope I can be wise enough to accept it when the time comes along:)
