do we expect to much from kids now adays?

Thank you for your imput I agree...all you hear about your new baby, is not to compare all kids mature differently, ... then they get older and its a different story. Ex. i have a just turned 3 yr old girl...shes great, her dr, dentist, and libraian ......along with a billoion other po=eople, teachers, specialists etc....all say that she is one of the brightest 3 years olds they know, she does,things and has comprehension of things that most kids her age dont have...... The one issue is that she doesnt talk as much as her peers do...she says enough to get through her day she can tell stories etc....but beacuse she doesnt say, grocery store and other things, Plus alot of what she says in in sign language (we know a lot of deaf people) She says enough in english for people to understand her, but she says alot in asl, so alot people dont understand that... I've been told to put her in nursery school......I went to check it out and found out that there r 2 options, 1 is for 3 and 4 yr olds, 5 days a week 8:30am to 5pm!!!! The other is m, t,w, and that is 8:30 to 12:30 (MUCH BETTER) I go and talk to the teacher and she tells me that by kindergarten Now kids are suppose to be able to regonize all letters of the alphbet,(upper and lower), spell their name and regonizse numbers 1-20 and be able to write at least half....All this and more to enter Kindergarten!!!! Now my husband and I r young, we r 23. yet we rember kindergarten as then learning our ABC's and having small naps and learning our numbers.........we rember middle school and high school as being really hard, with way to much school work, it was hard just to keep up, (except for the few really smart kids an deven they felt overwhelmed) If everyone is pushing kids this hard now at 3 and 4 what will the rest of their schooltime be like????

and yes what you said about clothes is true, too many things they make now, Mini skirs etc...are made for kids to wear WAY too young... When I was younger people would be surprized by my age, they all thought I was older. now when i say my age peole are surprized, they think Im younger!!! it took me a while to realize that I didnt look younger, these kids look older!
