I read news that the live action movie of Slam Dunk will be made in Taiwan starring music icon Jay Chou and Charlene Choi after both Korean stars BoA and Yoon Eun Hye declined the lead female roles. But it is said that the manga creator does not endorse the movie, what do you think?

If it is real, I'm kind of scared about what I might see in that movie. It might ruin the image of the characters that Inoue created.

Me too. I wish Japanese actors would portray the characters, but reading the post above, it seems that Inoue is not too keen on the idea of a Slam Dunk movie. If it's a tribute, then the story would be based on the point of view of the director or fans of the series. If they really want the movie to be like the real Slam Dunk, they should have the creator's input as to how to do scenes and whatnot.

Takehiko Inoue has said at his official site that he has not given permission for the movie to be done: http://www.itplanning.co.jp/news.html
Rumors on the internet say that the movie is real, and it's a tribute to the manga, so they're doing it without the creator's permission.
Inoue, on the other hand, has said that the IH Tournament part of the manga is going to be done as an anime.
The movie is said to cost 10 million dollars and will be released in the year 2008. So I suppose we'll have to wait to know if it's true or not.
