Did anybody watch the programme on last night By the hand of God...it was about parents who "discipline" their children..firstly I am not a religeous person so most of it I found quite bizarre - but each to their own where beliefs are concerned!!?
What disturbed me was the women who disciplined her kids with a stick!! I was mortified to see her take her little girl - who really wasn't very old into a room with her slightly older son and then you heard the little girls cries...my heart nearly burst and I personally wanted to get that woman and give her a bloody good pasting of my own...is it just me that feels this way or did anybody else feel it was bang out of line?
Their are many ways of discipling a child and smacking them doesn't "have" to be one of them. I am all for discipline and teaching children what is right and wrong but smacking hurts! And is this the right thing to teach kids - is smacking right or wrong?
What annoyed me most when she took the little girl aside was the way she smirked as she reached for the stick like she enjoyed it...I could rant hear all day, but I won't go on anymore - I just wondered what other people thought of it??

I've never heard of that show, but I'm on the other side of the pond ;) I think a lot of people take the quote from the bible "spare the rod, spoil the child" out of context. We see that the rod is a guide, not an actual physical stick. We are her to guide our children, not to hit them.
