What does your name mean..???

My name is Sukandar. "Su" means "good" and "kandar" means "driver". So it means a "good driver". I'd got that means from a dictionary. I don't know why my parents have given me that name. We have not got a car yet. Anyway, I am the first child from four. So, they maybe want me to be a good organizer of my brother and sisters. And when I asked them what's the meaning of my name, they said, "'Kandar' means 'love'!" So, it is a "good love". Hehehe... They'd given me a good name. The meaning they'd told me is better than mine, I think. Thank God...

My name has indirectly come from and Irish word. It means bright sea.

Western people don't usually put a lot of thought into the meaning of names. People are often named after older relatives or simply because the parents like the sound of it. Gift shops sometimes sell coffee cups etc. with the meanings of names written on them, but it's just a novelty really. My original Greek name ELEFTHERIA,which my parents gave me means Liberty or Freedom and my name day is on the 15th December to celebrate ST ELEFTHERIOS DAY. In Greece, name days are even more important than birthdays and usually every one gets together at the persons house to celebrate bringing folowers or treats. I a abroad so I get the odd phone call if a relative remembers me lol. I lose out on everything by living abroad lol.
