I prefer meeting friends personally and getting to know them more by hanging out with them. People tend to be friend those who are approachable, a smile can make people feel that you're not a snob and you can be a friend. Then do not let your communications fail, at least update each other with what are the happenings in your life to make them feel that they are not forgotten.

Anyone to your list certainly does not qualify him as your friend . A lot has to vbe said and done before he or she can be considered a friend . Its just that adding to yourt list is a start towards that end . Certainly if its possible to meet that person it would be closer interaction and hence you can know each other better and be at more proximity to each other . Being able to meet in person can alwqays result in better friendship as its a better window to communicate more closely ! But if you are living lonely its better to have some online friends than the real life ones who do not have the time to talk to you or are too busy with their own lives !
