How many people out their actually practice self mutilation. In the psychology world (at this time)it is the most under studied and misunderstood behavioral issue today. If you do or have practiced self mutilation; when did you start, what type of mutilation method do you use, have you stopped, what are your coping strategies for not mutilating yourself? Do you think this a hidden problem in our society that many suffer from behind closed doors?

I used to cut my wrists and ankles in middle school (7th and 8th grade). It was my way of dealing with the murder of my best friend. Once I realized that what happened to her wasn't my fault I stopped. I think it is definitely a hidden problem. I know many people who have at one point in their lives practiced self-mutilation. In my experience girls tend to cut themselves and guys tend to excercise too much.
