Do men tend to bite their nalis more than women. What are they so nervous about? Maybe they are just hungry. I really hate to see a persons nails bitten off so low to where it bleeds. My brother does this and his skin begans to swell. How awful is that? Are you a nail biter?

i never understood. i always thought it was a disgusting habit. it looks nasty and makes your hands look gross. your fingers smell all spitting. oh man your brother is crazy, tell him to stop doing that.

No, I was never big on the whole fingers in the mouth thing. My hands are dirty from work half the time, so the thought of putting them in my mouth is just simply nasty.

Really I think they are just lazy. Too lazy to get the nail clippers. They'd rather bite their nails. For most of them I don't think it has anything to do with nerves. My cousin bites his nails and his skin begins to swell too. Doesn't it hurt. I don't see how they can do this.

it's not laziness. it's about fixation. in psychology, Jean Piaget formulated a theory involving stages of Pychosexuial development which are the following, oral stage, anal, phallic, latency and genital. in the oral stage, babies find it a pleasure if they suck things on their mouth like mother's nipples, fingers, and the like. now if one doesn't completely get over with this stage or lacks pleasure in this stage, it is called fixation. then this shows up until he grows which is manifested by the problem which you were discussing about. that is my own understanding about that.
