Responses that don't line up with what you asked....

I often find that people will post responses to my posts which are in line with the general topic of my post, but do not address the specific question I asked, or the comments I've made. Instead they'll go off on a tangent that's related but not exactly identical. It's a weird experience to read these, because it's like talking to someone who's detached from going on. However I have to admit I know why this happens because I've found myself doing it: in the rush to respond to get our post count up, we'll talk about the topic instead of respond to the post itself. Does this annoy you? Do you do it? Do you mark best responses as the ones that don't do this?

That's pretty common on regular forums too. People think they know what you said, but they either didn't read it carefully enough, or their mind took a u-turn somewhere along the line. It's not just Mylot, believe me. I'm convinced that a lot of people are semi-literate and shouldn't even be participating on forums. I've learned to ignore it. On Mylot I don't mark them. I don't want to neg someone just because they're an idiot.

I have to say I find myself doing it. I try not to but I have read responses and think how did they get that from what I wrote. I think sometimes they just read the title and not the whole thing.
