if you ended up with no food, shelter or money, would you steal food to feed your kids/family?

If that were my only alternative then yes I would. However being a bit of a country boy I don't think that I would have much trouble providing those things without stealing.. There is plety of game for trapping and shooting as well as plenty of fish for catching.

Not to sound like a smart-@$$....but if you were in the position where you were having trouble feeding your family, you might have a hard time obtaining a hunting or fishing license, and hunting, certain types of game are only in season for a limited time during the year.....then that would be poaching....so....would that be the same as stealing if you had no license or hunted out of season?

I was once asked same question by my teacher back in high school days. My answer was the same as the first posters. After exhausting all legal means and still left with no other option but to steal then I would definitely do it for my family. My teacher said good end does not justify bad means. I just shrugged my shoulders :D

I would look for other options first. But if there really were no other option available, I would steal from the richest person I could find, because they're just sitting there hoarding all that wealth and ought to be helping to feed the hungry anyway. I might even leave them a note thanking them for their involuntary donation to a good cause.

First I would exhaust every other option no matter how degrading. I would go to every community service , food banks, I would offer to work for food, I would do anything I could legally for food. But if I had no options left but to steal to feed my family I would steal although it is against everything I was brought up to believe in. My mom who was subsidized my welfare when i was a child taught me it was important to work and only take help when needed because there are always need it more. So stealing would be my absolute last resort Cheryl
