Have you ever said, "That MANIAC is Going to Hurt Someone!!!" while Driving?

You know what I am talking about. You are driving along the highway in moderate traffic, when all of the sudden some crazy, reckless and careless driver cuts you off and continues to weave in and out of traffic without any regard for anyone else on the road. And as you watch the person speed off, you state, "That [person] is going to cause an accident!' Have you ever seen that person actually get into an accident? This happened to me once. It was about three years ago. My wife and I were driving home around 8pm along a busy highway in a residential area. When out of nowhere, this agressive driver speeds past and weaves in and out of traffic. I slammed on the breaks, as did everyone else, and said 'That [jerk] is going to cause an accident!'. Well imagine my surprise as I continue to watch this driver drive along in the same manner for a few hundred yards and then jump the median and cut back across traffic, bounce off a telephone pole and knock over a gas station sign. I was in shock. I am even getting chills as I write this. I, at first, felt horrible, as if I had caused them to drive in that manner and get into an accident. My wife was stunned as well. We saw a few of the other drivers on the road pull over to see if the guy was ok. Since we had a 5 month old daughter in the back, we didn't stop, plus we saw others helping, so we just called 911 for help. As we drove by, I could hardly keep the car still because I was still frozen from the sight I had just witnessed. I am not sure what happened to the driver and I never saw it mentioned on the news or in the paper. I remember feeling really bad after it had happened, and wish I had not said what I did. Has this ever happened to you? Had you ever made a statement like that while driving? Have you ever seen some agressive driver get into an accident? How would you have reacted? How would you have felt? Was I correct to feel guilty? I know it is silly to feel that I caused the accident. That driver had free will and was agressively driving all on his own. Should I feel mad at the driver because he was being so agressive and did cause an accident. It could have been a lot worse. And a lot more people could have been involved. At least the other drivers on the road were aware enough to see what was happening and stayed out of the way. Are you the type of driver that says this often about others? Think, or even hoping, that an aggressive person will get into an accident or hurt themselves? I still catch myself saying or thinking it at times, but remember this experience, and hope they are careful and stay out of their way. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for reading and responding!

Naw! but my Ma was driving and there was this guy swerving like crazy in front of us. We thought he was drunk but it turned out he had a darn road map laid out which covered the steering wheel. Idiots like that need to get off the road! It's impossible to read a map when it's on a steering wheel!!! _

Yes, I guess you are right. It is amazing what some people do while driving. What gets me is when you drive past a cop and see them looking down at their computer instead of focusing on the road.
