Litter Training Kittens!

This is a horrible job sometimes. My Cat had a litter of 4 kittens. They have recently started to go to the washroom all over the floor. Now here's the catch, the mother of course, uses the litter box. Three of the kittens use the litter box. I have one little girl that refuses to use the litter box. If we put her in there, she WILL go, but she just sits there for 15 minutes before she will do her business. If we dont catch her preparing to go to the bathroom on the floor...our loss. Any ideas on how to convince her it's "the right thing to do"?

It's been a long time since I've litter trained kittens, but as I recall, they usually pick it up fairly quickly. It just takes persistance in remembering to get them in their in time to do their business. Here are some tips that may help you to get them all litter trained:
Place the kitten in the box 1/2 hour after play or meals.
Stimulate interest in the litter by stirring it.
Let the kitten jump in and out of the litter box instead of restraining him.
Place some stool in the litter box (builds associations between litter box and bathroom needs).
Use a litter with pellets as these mask the wet feel.

I had that happen with one of mine tracy I have 4 indoor cats and the last one I got just would not use the litter box so I got her her own little litter box and first time i set her in it she used and and has been using it since, some cats are really picky about that so that is just something that you could try..

Well perhaps her own litter box would be a good idea, and try to keep the washroom so clean that she does not feel any smell from her earlier visits. Perhaps you could rub some orange peels or other smell that kitties hate, on the washroom floor. You could also spray a little water on her when she attempts to go to the washroom. I hope this helps.

lol- Oh no... I think the key is to just keep putting her in the box all the time-- Soon she will catch on. Do you have seperate boxes for the kittens? Possibly the reason she doesn't want to go in it is because the others go in it- I read something about having separate boxes for more than 1 cat? Marking their territory? I think if the kitten keeps seeing her mom and all the others go she will soon pick it up and go for you!
