Fed Up!

Ever been so sick of a place that you just want to pack up all your belongings and leave? No matter the money situation? No matter if you had a place to live or not?
I feel that way right now. For the millionth time it seems, I have been witness to someone's pet getting ran over by a speeding motorist. On the street I live on the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour, but people are in such a rush that they are going well over 60 miles per hour on a residential street. GRRR! Seriously where's the fire? And what are people in such a rush over with it being near midnight here?
I keep dreading the day that instead of it being an animal, it's a child or an adult thats laying out in the street about to die from being hit from a speeding motorist. It sucks dreading the place you live. It sucks even more that I am wanting to leave in such a way.
It seems with some people, once behind the wheel, the rules no longer apply to them, and they think they can do whatever they want. I mean really, is it that hard to obey traffic laws?

Oh I feel extremely sorry for you. Hope you can do something about this, talk to local authorities or create some social awareness.
Well, yes, I sometimes get so much bugged as my husband does not seem to understand my point. I feel so bad. sometimes I feel that I am the one who is making no sense at all. Life seems so tough that I feel like packing my bags and getting out. Husbands, it seems would never grwo up !

If our husbands grew up, I think it would get boring.lol On a serious note though it seems sometimes they can go a little to overboard on some things. With a little patience and some time it will pass though.
I have been thinking about talking to the city council about this problem. Possibly get them to hire another police officer that can patrol this area more frequently. As it stands right now I believe the whole city of Clarkson has maybe one or two officers total. But speeding is becoming quite a problem here and something really needs to be done.

i know you are talking about sensible driving which is getting tuff day after day.
Out here in india too , speed has been taken up by all kinds of big motobikes or cars. Here in palm beach road, there is atleast 5-6 accidents every month and still there is nothing the govt or the comman people doing about it.
I After so many yrs of driving now prefer driving at at a pace which is neither too fast or too slow..i believein drving in the 3rd lane, where there's no one to disturb my drving..let people drive their way from the fast lane..!

The street I live on is a narrow two-lane road. There is no reason for people to be speeding at all on it. There is no sidewalks either and a lot of times children are playing out in the street for lack of really a yard to play in. Not only that even with the ones that do have yards, children still go darting out into the road unexpectedly while playing with balls, remote control toys, and all those other things children like to be playing with outside.
People who come down this street see the speed limit sign posted several times along with the warnings children at play/watch for animals and pets. The only ones to obey this is the people that live on the same street I do.
There have been countless times I have nearly been hit myself while standing on the side of the road, trying to get my mail out of the mailbox, because someone was speeding and not paying attention to what they were doing. Not a very nice wake-up call, nor is it any fun to be crawling out of a muddy ditch.
Sorry I'm venting here, but truly I am really fed up with this place. And wish something would be done about this problem, which shouldn't be a problem to begin with. Vehicles are not toys, and should be used with the utmost care, and obey the laws.

I agree with you that this should not be happening. Have you tried to talk to the police? It seems if this is an on going problem in the same area that they would want to do something about it. I know though that in some towns the police just don't care. I hope that things get better where you live soon.

I'm thinking that I may have to go to the state police to get something done about this. I have talked to the local police and they practically just shooed me out of the police station. I have also talked to the city council about this problem and have yet to hear of anything being done. I keep hoping that sometime soon this problem will be taken care of, but at this point I can only sit around and wait.

That is horrible that the police department is just letting this happen! I hope that the state police can be of assistance to you. Thank you so much for the best response!

Hi Hun, Sorry to hear that this is happening to you. I lived in a similar place where people used the street in front of our apartment like the Indy 500. I sware hardly anyone except maybe senior citizens did the speed limit. I was woried constantly that a child may get struck by a speeding car, the area also had a lot of businesses near by and was really busy so I couldn't handle it and ended up moving a few months later. I now live in a small city which is perfect, not too big, and not too small. It has really helped my bi-polar and it's many symptoms (social phobia, anxiety, etc). I hope things get better there soon, and again I'm sorry that's going on there, I can understand the feeling as I was there once myself.

At the rate this has been going on and pretty much since I moved out here six years ago speeding has been a major problem here. I didn't need to be told, since I saw it. Been hoping that something would be done about it before now, because a lot of people have complained about it, but apparently the city officials aren't listening.
It really frightens me sometimes, with every screech of tires I hear, so much so that I am afraid to look outside. My husband bought me a new 12 speed bike for my birthday a few years ago, and I have maybe ridden it three times total, cause I just don't like being out on this road with the morons that drive down this street. All I really can do at this point is hope and pray that someone will start listening and do something about this problem before someone does get hurt on this street.

I know how you feel. As you I am just as fed up. They are just as bad when a decent driver is trying to get to his/her distination. I have been nearly ran off the road, and other such things that one shouldn't have to go through while sharing the road with others.
Not to mention I am sure that if people would learn to slow down the car accident rate would go down a lot. I unfortunately have seen someone get hit by a speeding motorist, wasn't a pretty sight either. Was a very sad moment I wish I could erase from my mind.

I can only imagine what that was like. I am glad I haven't had to be witness to something like that, and hope I never do. But at the rate speeders are increasing here it feels that it is only a matter of time before something like that does occur.

I know what you mean. I've lived in this neighborhood a long, long time, and seen a lot of changes. My street is rather narrow too. They only made it a one-way street not that long ago, but still, people drive down as if they were in Nascar...and also, it's only been the past few years that for some reason, our street has become a route for trucks to come down, which they never did before, and they too race down like the Indianapolis 500 speedway--everytime I hear the screech of brakes I cringe cause right away I'm thinking a pet has been run over. Let's face it..there are a lot of idiots behind a wheel of a car who just don't care

That is so very true. Sometimes I wonder why they ever bother with the written test or the actual driving part of the test, if they are just gonna hand out licenses to anyone and everyone. It goes the same with placing speed limit signs, why bother when most don't follow them anyways. Let alone the police really do anything about it. Especially the ones out here. They would rather harass someone who was obeying the law, than actually pull someone over who was breaking the law. Now granted their were a few police officers on board that tried to make a difference, but for some reason they either quit or were fired.
I know of one instance where a police officer was fired because supposedly the speeding motorist that was pulled over was being harassed by this cop. The motorist was friends with the sheriff however and fired this cop without asking his side of the story, nor looking at any of the video footage from the police cruiser. Something smells of corruption to me, but unless people with some sort of morale to them starts getting into these places of power, I see the same trend gonna happen over and over again.
