I have been taking the medication Chantix for 1 month now. It helps with stopping smoking by binding to the recpetors in the brain that nicotine normally does. So when you do somke I guess the nicotine has no real effect. All I know is that this stuff is great! I am not smoking. It was weird how each day ciggeretts tastes less and less good. They actually got a nasty taste to them. I suggest anyone wanting to quit smoking to try this medication.

after just commenting to another poster about chantix (i suggested they visit this discussion) it sounds like chantix is similar to what we get here called zyban...a friend of mine took it for a while and she was saying she disliked the taste more and more every time she had a cig the longer she was taking them
another friend though had zyban and actually got headaches so had to stop.
i might talk to my doctor about them as i dont know that i can take it with my current medications...

good for you to drop smoking, but the medicine you mentioned sounds dagerous to me, does it have side effect? human brain is soft and vulnerable.
