Do have power failures during summer where you live?

Imagine coming home after a hard day's work, having your dinner and than hitting the sack to get some well deserved zzzz's but just when you were getting all comfy the power goes out! i tell you that it really drives me nuts!I live in the port city of Pakistan named Karachi. Although its the largest city of the country and its financial hub for more than 50 years, power supply has always been a consistent problem here! it gets worse during summer when you need to have air conditioning to get a good nights rest. I have a backup generator but with the gas prices hitting sky high i cant afford to have it running all night!
Do you people have power failures during summer where you live? what do you do in case of a prolonged power failure?

i live in Pune the state of maharashtra India. Power cut is a permanent feature in my state and city. Every Thursday the power goes off. So all the industries have off on Thursdays. In summer it goes off more often. This year for the first time Bombay was threatened with severe power cuts.housing complexes have disel generators which keep the lift working. Private homes have invertors with battery which switches on when power goes off. Amount of power supply depends on the storage capacityof the batterey

Who would have thought that India and Pakistan would have even power outage in common! LOL!!!
