Kryptonite is no longer just the stuff of fiction feared by caped superheroes. A new mineral matching its unique chemistry - as described in the film Superman Returns - has been identified in a mine in Serbia. According to movie and comic-book storylines, kryptonite is supposed to sap Superman's powers whenever he is exposed to its large green crystals. The real mineral is white and harmless,. What do you think about this discover?

I'm interested in this, but what unique chemistry are they talking about? Did the Superman comic really specify the chemical composition or at least, the properties of kryptonite? In any case, this is an intriguing find.

Oh yeah I've heard of that too! I wanna see it. Is it really white? There are several kinds of Kryptonite, the green one is harmful to Superman, the red one makes him loose his inhibitions, the silver one makes him paranoid, there is a black one I think but I forgot what it does, and there's the transparent one which is harmless. I wonder what a white one would do...
