Has myLot changed since you started here?

Don't know if it's just me, but as myLot grows, I've noticed that some of the regulars who used to dominate the discussion pages, have almost vanished, and a lot of others seem to have moved in, and the character of the site has changed a lot.
A fair few of the 1000+ people are still around, but the culture seems to have shifted since I started in January. Anyone remember the MLPD saga, the cut and paste posts, etc? Haven't seen anything on that for ages, but a few months ago you couldn't find anywhere on the site without them.
I think it's the people who make the good, thought provoking discussions that drive myLot. They're the catalysts, the ones who get the feedback machinery to work properly, spark the good responses, and make it fun. So they become the people who define what you like about the site.

i have noticed that it is harder to find good discussions now. it used to be that i could post in a lot of the discussions but i struggle to find anything to post to now. i think mylot has grown by 2000 members since i joined. i guess the character of the site will always be changing since new members are joining

Yeah, no doubt about it, some sociologist will do a PhD on net societies sometime. The change in the mix is very noticeable as it goes on.

It's changed a lot with it's new functions, the personalisable front page and profile updates and the one I so love is knowing when someone replied to you when it's not a discussion you started, as I hated having to search through everything as it took forever and I didn't always find it!

Yeah, the new notifications are saving me some time, too. It's interesting, watching the upgrades, because you can see that quite a bit of thought's going into them.

I have been here over 5 months now and each month the way I approach MyLot changes. I am always conducting new test to see what brings me the most money for the least amount of time. In the beginning all I did was start new discussions. This became very hard when I was receiving over 100 replies and I was trying to keep up with replies to comments, marking the best response, etc. I also read a lot more in the beginning looking for things of interest. I was commenting on 30-50 discussions per day just to make .30. now I have found a way to make over $1.00 a day and can even make up to $3.00 a day if I want. I no longer start new discussions and I comment on very few too. The money for me has been in replies to the news articles. I make sure I write at least 10 good complete sentences about a few news articles and the money flows in quicker.
Also a lot of my old friends from the past are less active now. Some found work outside of the home while others found work online. I already worked outside the home and also work online. So, that part has not changed for me. It is all about making the most money for the time spent for me.

Reading friends' posts it seems it's still happening, not to the same extent cos apparently the ringleader was a very naughty boy while proclaiming rightoeousness. But there are still some people going round deleting posts and others (?) are still leaving filthy, nasty tags. I haven't seen it but as i say, I'm reading about it.

Silly, isn't it? They always do get caught. Maybe other forums are sloppier about their housekeeping. This remains one of the best forums I've ever seen, including some of the more "upmarket" writer's forums.

Hello friend, we must be tapping into the same thought forms. I posted last night about exactly the same thing. There does feel like a creative lull. Perhaps it's the nicer weather in the Northern Hemisphere, everyone's out and about in the sun and not at their computers.
I for one have been going through a creative slump and have no interest in replying to the mundane questions as they don't interest me at all. I'm not here for the money that's for sure.
I think it won't be long before there is a resurgence of intelligent threads soon.

I think that's less of a creative slump than experience. I really do avoid anything that doesn't interest me. There's always the risk of being patronizing, or insultingly sarcastic. The one really consistent behavior pattern here is that the regular contributors are really fussy about what subjects they'll get themselves involved in, regardless of who's doing the discussion.

I'm curious to see how Mylot will be as new members keep joining. So far it's been interesting, and I couldn't help responding to such great discussions. I think that since I've started about a month ago, there's about 10,000 new members. I was wondering, how old is Mylots?
