Does this just pis$ you off??? I can't stand it. When I see a pregnant woman with a cigarette in her hand, I want to walk up and slap it out of her reach! I believe this is a form of child abuse. My husband smokes...my mom and dad both used to smoke...so I do realize how addictive it is. I do realize that it is hard to quit, but COME ON!! This is your child! When you find out you are pregnant, you STOP doing these self destructive acts! You want to kill youself, go ahead...but when you start putting these nasty chemicals in an innocent little child who can't escape, then you are SO wrong!
I saw a woman at my son's t-ball game last night who was OBVIOUSLY pregnant..at least 7 months along...she was just puffing away on a cigarette. She tried to hide it...I could tell she was uncomfortable, but still. I wanted to walk up and tell her how horrible she was.
Does this make you as mad as it does me? I find it child abuse and neglect.

It really pisses me off when I see someone smoking who is pregnant. That and those who think drinking will not hurt them or the baby.

i understand your feelings! any person in their right mind would be angry seeing those pregnant mothers smoking. if they really want to die, they shouldn't try to involve their babies too, right?! smoking while pregnant leads to various implications to the babies. in fact i heard once that babies with smoking moms tend to be smoker themselves once they grow into adults. i think your right about that being a child abuse. you're subjecting an innocent child to a hazardous situation while it can't even defend itself! geez... talk about nutheads

i dont know why some pregnant women refuses to stop or quit smoking when they already know the effects it will take to their unborn child. my husband has a friend who just like that pregnant woman who didnt stop smoking when she is already pregnant and now the child is suffering because of the heart congenital effect which she got from her mom, it is so sad that the child suffer from the consequences that her mother had done. i agree with you that if they want to destroy their body, then by all means do it but please spare your unborn child. they are not the ones who will suffer but the child. be a responsible parent.

All that will happen is a baby born with birth defects. I truly think those who smoke while pregnant dont give a crap about their child to be. They think its okay. They dont want to stop. They are being selfish. In my opinion, pregnant and babies those arent about you anymore, but a NEW life you are bringing into the world and raising. Stop being selfish and give it up, AT LEAST till the baby is born! Plus its bad for anyones health of course!

While I am against women smoking during pregnancy... Doctors will often advise AGAINST quitting for fear of the stress it will cause... its a proven fact that women who smoke more than a pack a day and try to quit cold turkey while they are pregnant put their children more at risk than if they just cut down... then again some women are just stupid... :)

I find it very sad, actually smoking full stop is such a terrible habit. I will never get angry at a smoker as I was one when I was a teenager for 5 years and struggled to kick the habit but it's very sad to see someone pregnant not give their child a chance.

Congratulations for your little bundle of joy and GREAT JOB for quitting. I know it had to be hard, but as you said, "it's not a choice". Good for you.

Contrary to popular belief, healthy babies have been born to smoking mothers. There is no reason for anyone to get pissed off when they see this. If a woman doesn't like it then she shouldn't smoke during HER pregnancy. Adults can be responsible for their own decisions. Smoking is just one of many.

Ugh yes, that drives me absolutely nuts!! I know it's really hard to give up, but when it's your child's life on the line, the baby just has to be priority! It just breaks my heart to see things like that happening. They really can't claim ignorance either cause there is just WAY too much proof out there about how bad it is.

Yes, I do agree with you.I hate to see pregnant women and still they smoke. They have made the baby and yet they don't have any concern for the baby inside their womb. Smoking can cause alot of birth defects to their baby. Smoking also reduces birth weight after delivery.I am sure that they don't want this to happen to them if they have a choice or given a chance to be back inside a womb again. Would they like it? I guess not. I also hate these people.

smoking while pregnant first of all is an insult to nature in the sense that you are involved in a child abuse and also this causes some hormonal damages to the child, if you also believe it or not this childs' mental soundness is also affected inorder words smoking while pregnant is a conduct brought about through close addictiveness of pleasure smoking has to offer. but shouldnt be encouraged anyway.

Its not allowed to smoke when you are pregnant too risky for the baby on the development of vital organs inside the womb. Im not as mad as you right now, just be cool all can be resolved in just a good talk..

Yes, this really irks me too. I am of the opinion that if one wants to smoke it is their business. They can read and listen to the effects of smoking and make a decision about their own body. However I get irritated when they make that decision for the unborn baby! So many things can go wrong with the baby when the mother smokes during pregnancy...from increases chances of having ADHD to severe allergies and respiratory problems. It also causes low birth weight which carries with it a host of problems. Yes, I do consider it a form of child abuse. If one were to put a nicotine patch on a baby it would be considered abuse, so how is smoking any different?

i also feel bad when i see things like these because the infant's life is at stake. chances are, the child would develop physical abnormalities and even mental disabilities if the mother continues these harmful vices.

no, I am actually NOT pro abortion...that makes no sense actually. I am concerned about the poor unborn child while the mother is smoking so why would you think I would be pro abortion? strange comment... "-" rating for you just for not adding anything constructive.

OMG, yes this pisses me off to no extent because its like how dumb can one be...there is a live new being growing inside of you and you arent even thinking about how precious that new life is. Smoking while pregnant is a huge risk for that baby and the baby can come out with issues because of it.
How would you do this to your own baby knowing how many problems can stem from it. A baby can come out with enoguh problems as it is without someone helping it along with smoking.

It is possible to quit. It may be hard, but it is possible. It makes me sick to think a woman would rather put her child through that then go through the discomfort of withdrawals for a little while just to make sure her kid is as healthy as possible.
