i would just say it in a few lines:
a true friend is someone who can wake up at 2 AM and ready to listen whenever the need arises.
a true friend is critical and not hypocrite.

Friendship is not to be weighed on give and take policy. Being a friend doesnot mean you can give and he/she can only take or vice versa. Friend is a wide term. A true friend is always with you, whether financial, official, residential or any other problems. You can discuss with your friend, ask for his/her suggestion, seek if he/she can help you financially if its the top need for you at that moment. Being a true friend, your friend will answer positive and whatever his/her capacity is, he/she will go with you, support you. But to weigh the depth of friendship, money is and should not be the only factor. Your friend may have rather more difficulty in financial grounds and can't help that moment with money you ask for. But this doesnot mean the end of friendship. Friends should be very close to each other and that's give a sense to 'being a friend'. No money transaction should come in between friendship.

You shouldn't think exclusively in terms of money.
A friend is someone who is supportive toward the close ones, regardless the environment.
