Having an Article Published - I'm Thrilled

I know we have a lot of writers here on myLot so am sure many will appreciate this while others will think it's no big deal.
Last year I wrote an article on MySpace and posted it on my web site. I never really thought much more about it but last week I was contacted by a book publisher asking permission to include my article in a future book.
I'm thrilled, excited, and honored. This book will be for educational purposes, controversial issues of the day, to be used as reference material in schools around the world but mostly the US and Canada.
I will be paid $90 for this publication but they may want to use it in future publications, on their web site and other areas and I will be paid $90 each time as well as have my byline on the article.
I’ve been writing online doing web content articles, e-books, and such for almost a year but all writing has been as a ghost writer so have not had ‘my name’ on anything except what is on my site.
Is it silly of me to be so excited? Have you ever had someone contact you with a request like this – not like AC or CC where we are posting our articles but actually them finding you and asking to use your material? How did or would you feel about something like this happening to you?

WHEW WEE!! I am so happy for you! Maybe it will make the lack of sleep from the little fiasco you call your son not so bad!
I have only recently gotten a computer and I do not have much to see except for here, so I do not see any offers like this for me! I would like to read it though. I visited your page and learned a lot from it, and got several laughs as well. I like the style of your writing. oh my dear friend I am so happy for you...congratulations and let's get finger crossed...maybe this will be the first step towards something new...I didn't know you had a site of your own.I am sure having alook at it as soon as possible. I want to read some of the things you write and I am really interested in coming into contact with your world.when we write we give voice to the inner part of ourselves and writing is such a blessing.don't you think so?

Yes, I've had my own site for almost 9 years www.byfaithonly.com I'm afraid I haven't done much work on it the last few months because of other things going on but I do love it and have been blessed many times over by it.
I agree writing is a way of sharing our inner thoughts and feelings - when other appreciate that effort it's a blessing through and through.

Congratulations Faith! I have never been asked to have any of my writing put into a book. I have had 3 stories published for which I was paid so I understand the excitement and the confidence it gives you when someone else recognizes your writing skills! Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you!

Congratulations on getting published! Also, I like the fact that you have the option of getting paid $90.00 every time your article is used. Before you know it, you may be a writing superstar!

Congratulations! It's certainly not silly of you to feel the way you do. I know how excited I was when one of my first things got purchased. Funny thing is, each time you get published or sell an article, the feeling is enriched. Silly? I don't think so, but that be the case, there are a few of us out there that are just plain silly most of the time.
I would feel elated darlin'! I'm getting excited just thinking about it for you! How awesome!

LOL - yep that's me, I do tend to get excited over anything and everything.. Whew whew - I got my dishes all washed yesterday... Yippy - the icecream place down the road opened for the summer. Wow I've been looking for that jacket for months... Thank you so much for the congratulations, I love sharing with others.

Congratulations! Of course it is not silly to feel excitement over getting published, especially when you are getting paid every time (!)they use your material. It is always a thrill to read your own byline. I started out as a reporter way back in 1972, then moved on to feature writing for a monthly magazine. Then I got into scholarly publications, and then on to textbooks as both writer and editor. I write a monthly column now and again for a community newspaper, and it is always, always a wonderful feeling to see your byline and know people are reading your "product." Well congratulations! No I do not think it is silly to me so happy about this. I'm happy for you, may the Lord continue to bless you in this area. Just like had my first paid article on associated content last month. It was only $7 but I was so happy. Keep up the great work.

Oh you should have seen me the first article I wrote for money was for the company I still write for - he paid betwee $7 and $10 for the type of article he assigned me as an audition... He started me right off at $10 and I was jumping for joy I was so excited.

I too would be excited. I don't it's silly at all to be excited. It's awesome that someone saw your article and wanted to publish it in their book.
If this happened to me, I would be so excited!! I've never had it happen, but I can live in hope LOL.

Wow, this is cool. I am happy for you, Faith. I can imagine how excited you will be. I will be excited too if I was in your shoes. And 900 bucks!! Was this with any negotiation? Or did they just offer you this price. I am not sure how long your article is (would love to take a look) but 900 bucks seems a neat price for a "mere" article! You know, talking to you all makes me want to be a writer. If only I am still 6 lol. :P

Its not silly at all. You have all the right to be excited and proud. I am proud for you too. Keep on writing and you will have a good future. When i was at school, i was a very good writer. but with time and other problems, i dont write any more which i regret. It is a gift and i am happy you are using it. Keep up the good work. Take care.

Wow I am so happy for you byfaithonly congratulations I knew that you could do it as I had faith in your abilities. No I do not think it is silly of you at all as now you are being recognized for your ability to do this and I think it is wonderful and I am so very happy for you. If this happened to be I would be estatic about it.
