What age do you thinkis appropriate to get a tattoo or piercing? Or if you're a parent what age would you let your son/daughter get one?
I would let my son or daughter get a piercing probably any time their a teenager as a piercing can be removed. A tattoo I'd make them wait til' they were 18. A tattoo is so permanent that I would want them to be at least 18 where I'd have no say!

You have to be 18 before you can legally have a tattoo. My son wanted a tattoo like mine and I made him wait until he was legally old enough to make up his own mind. He went ahead and got his tattoo a couple of months ago.

Oh. I thought you could get one if you had a parents approval before the age of 18. Maybe that's just with piercings though.

Almost all the tattooists I know would not accept anyone under 18 even with parental consent.

I think it honestly depends on the state or country you are in. Of course, you can always find people who do not follow the laws... In NY it has been 18 or nothing. Then some counties allow 16 with parent.
On the main topic of this discussion, whenever they wanted to either. I would even help them find a tattoo artist willing to work on minors if they really wanted. Hooray for my bad parenting........ Honestly, i think these are least likely to ruin a person's life, and it can teach them the importance of examining decisions we make before we make them.
