Has anyone used a Startup Cleaner to removed unwanted programs at startup?

I've surfed the web looking for ways to remove unwanted programs at startup and keep coming across downloads that will do it for you. I'd like feedback as to whether or not these program work, how well they work, which one(s) are the best and any drawbacks that might be associated. Thanks!
