why do people backstab each other?

simply because they have nothing to do... peoples nowaday are too realistic.. and many are pretenders..you just have to be very careful with who you mix with.. i've been backstab many times too.. and i think it's time for everyone to learn to handle such situation.. we have many people talking on this topic everyday.. but why there's still no solution towards it? what's happening ? i don't think there will ever be a solution towards this problem.. do you agree??? it seems like human nature to backstab one another.. like how the male lion backstab another male lion to attract the female lion.. haha :P

Hi generalbuo! I am Angel from the Philippines and I have this feeling that you're from the Philippines too. I think people have different reasons why they backstab others. One is when they want to get back at them for hurting them or disappointing them may it be unconsciously or deliberately. Some do it because they have this anger to the other person but don't have the guts to show him or her or fight face to face. But I think the reason mostly is other people's insecurity. I believe that when a person starts doing bad things to you when you have done nothing to harm them at all, is that they are somehow insecured. I think that they are trying to destroy you because you have something that they envy. And I feel really sorry for those kind of people and I truly hope that they'll find that there's something good about them too. The world will be a much better place to live in without backstabbers.

Human nature. People aren't there for other people, they are out for what's best for them.

In a dog-eat-dog world, backstabbing is but a common practice. For one, I agree with you that it is being done for self preservation. Others have grown greedy, spiteful and full of angst, that they have a lot of room for anger or jealousy in their hearts. Envy drives them to backstab and pull down people in order to rise above the others and lead the rat race. These people think that they would actually emerge as winners with this act, and that they have indeed risen by holding down others. I can't help but feel sad for people who cannot lift themselves up on their own without hurting others.

Gossiping, backbiting. . .they are one and the same. I don't think it is basically for self-preservation, but more on a defense mechanism for a damaged esteem.. . Ok, still self-preservation. It's a way of getting back at the person for real or imagined persecution one gets. . whether one is envious of a promotion or possessions of that othe person, or one feels rejected, the point is, you are hurt and you get even by backstabbing. Is it healthy? Definitely not. All of us may have tried it one way or the other, and we end up the losers because the person concerned does not know about the hidden aggression. . .

I consider these people the most coward of all! They backstab other people when the other one is not at the picture. Backstabbing is a kind of attitude nearest to hypocrisy. They seem to be coward enough to tell unreliable stories about the person he is trying to talk back at.

I hate backstabbers. People backstab each other for different reasons. Even friends do it to one another. Maybe it's because of too much insecurity or envy that the person has. Oftentimes it is because of hatred that they feel. There are a lot of pretenders in this world. We just have to be careful whom we trust. We don't know if the one who is closest to us will one day backstab us.
