Some people look at friendship that way... for social status, money and power. But others still keep genuine friendships. Just like me and my bestfriend. We hardly get the chance to be together, but our friendship still flourishes. We communicate, share our experiences, advice and support each other although we do not see each other.

Yeah I think nowadays people make friends for the benefit that they get out of it. Most true friends are those you meet early in your life especially during childhood. Those people that you grew up with are what I consider true friends. These people know who you really are and accept you for all your flaws. They don't make friends because they need something. They are your friends because they are part of who you are and vice-versa.

Many people see friendship that way. I am glad that not all people do though, or many of us would have no friends. Any friends that I have to buy are not worth having.
