What is your earliest childhood memory whether it's good or bad.
Mine isn't a good one, so it may have blocked out the others I may have had from the really early years. I was five and it was of watching my dad drive away down the street. I was chasing after him and he wouldn't stop. That was the day my parents split up and I didn't see or hear from my dad until I was 11 years old at his dad's funeral. That was also when my parents reunite and married again, but it took a while to forgive him for leaving us all.
Now it's your turn....

My earliest childhood memories were not very good either as I remember kids making fun of me because I am half chinese and mixed race. It was very difficult for me as a child and tried to avoid being around other kids as much as possible. I isolated myself a lot and is the main reason why I am shy around people.

Aww, I wish they would have treated you better in school. I think it is so wrong to place judgements upon ppl without getting to know their heart first. You should never react to the shell of the person; only to the inside.
Thanks for the reply ;-]

The first entire memory I have was from when I was 5. We had moved into a new house and were sitting on the kitchen floor eating dinner. A neighbor child came over and asked if there were any boys there his age and when he found out there was not he was disappointed. I do not know why that is the first whole memory that sticks in my head, as it is so insignificant, before that I either remember fragments or only think I remember from hearing a story so often.

I remember when I was three and my mom let me stay up late to wait on my dad to come home. When he did he picked my up and threw me up in the air and hugged me. He asked me why I was still up and I told him I was waiting up for him. He game me a big kiss and scooted me off to bed.

Cool discussion!
I have a memory like an elephant. My memories go back to three and four years old. My oldest memory was actually replayed in a dream! I was about eighteen years old and after waking up I went to my Mom, telling her I had the strangest dream. My dream was vague but very realistic. All I remembered was being swooped up and staring downward at my Mom's bare feet running down the streeet through the snow. When I shared my dream with my Mom, she knew exactly what I was being 'reminded' of. She explained that my Father was threatening us and she swooped me up and ran down the block to a nieghbor's for safety. She said I had to be about three years old but she remembered it like yesterday!
Another memory, that I didn't need reminded of, was when I was about four or five and it was my first trip to the Zoo. I love animals and probably always have, so it is a very fond memory! I remember the apes most (my favorite wild animal). We would watch the Chimpanzees for hours, just laughing the day away! (we still do when we go to the Zoo) There was a Zoo-Keeper walking around with his diapered chimp in his arms... I'm sure I was hoping for my Mom to have a baby chimp too ; )

I wish I could recall a happier, earlier one. After all these years, nothing comes to me before that moment.
What was your party like, lots of ppl & presents? What was the theme?

I don't think there was a theme. What has helped is photos from my childhood.
I remember there was one girl who came and I didn't really want her there. Even at 3 we knew about cliques. Sad.
We played pin the tail on the donkey and drop the clothes pin in the jar.
This was my kid party, opposed to my family/adult party.
It was in our backyard in Illinois.

Sounds like you still had a good party inspite of the girl being there when you didn't want her there. BTW, what is drop the clothes pin in the jar? That is a game I have never heard of.
And thank you for your responding to this discussion. It's greatly appreciated.

Wow! You really pulled at my heart strings by reading this. I guess it's because I don't even remember my mother and father being together because they separated before I was two.
Anyway...
My earliest childhood memory was when I had the chickenpox at age 4 1/2. What painful baths!!
Good topic! +
