I was just interested in peoples opinion on homeschooling and public schooling. I have been thinking about homeschooling and just wanted others thoughts on the subject. Thanks

Homeschooling isnt as good as public, you get less education and your parents are not educated teachers, whereas in schools you actually have verified teachers teaching your kids what is necessary in every subject, some parents might do unecessary things in mathematics ,etc.

That is exactly how I feel. I have thought about homeschooling but I could not imagine having to teach my child subjects in which I am not too great in. Theteachers went to school to get a teaching degree. I do not have a teaching deegree. Alot of parents feel they are just as qualified as teachers and i'm sure do a good job, but it's not for my situation.

I did most of my highschool in an actual school environment but due to health reasons I finished my last two years online. I found that my marks were much better and that I learned a lot more when I completed my credits online. I think it just depends on the person and what kind of learned you are....to homeschool (especially online) you have to have a lot of self discipline.

Unless you are a qualified teacher I don't think home schooling is a good idea. Even if you are a teacher home schooling robs children of the opportunity to acquire social skills that can only be learned in a group environment. Examples are fair play, being a gracious looser, how to deal with bullies, how to aquire a healthy self image. Also those kids cannot learn a variety of things that are not available in a home school environment. Being around your parents 24/7 can create a lot of anxiety. There is never any relief from parental supervision. Home schoolers try to ameliorate some of these drawbacks by forming home school associations where they and their kids can meet other home schoolers but this still does not provide a venue for vastly different opinions. I am for public schooling.

I would worry about their people skills. When you get out into the world it's all about inter-acting with people!
