Will you give your seat for someone?

I take a bus to my office and it is located on the business district of our country. During rush hours, the bus picks up passengers even if there are no seats left. This is actually okay for us because in Ayala avenue, every bus is full. Much worst on the our trains. Yes, I'm a girl but I don't expect anyone to give me their seat, but when somebody does i'm very very thankful. And this kept me thinking, what will it take to give your seat to someone?

It's a rule on the buses here that you need to give your seat to an elderly erson if youre in one of the convenient seats in the front, I always do,I feel its a privelege and not just a rule, I take the bus routes withe grocery stores on them so mainly their already struggling with bags, so I like to be as helpful as I can.

I live in Cavite and work in Manila. I ride the bus to work and most of the time, it is already full. I don't expect anyone to give me their seat even if I am a girl and they are sturdy men sitting on the bus seats, because to my opinion, we are all paying the same, so why not take a seat while we can? Besides, every person has a choice whether or not to ride the bus which is already so full of people. In my opinion, if an individual still rides the bus even if it is already loaded, he should do so at his own risk, meaning, he should not expect those who are sitting to give way for him. I no longer believe that men should act gentlemanly in this situation, like give their seats to girls. If a girl, or an older person wants to seat down on a bus, then he should not ride one which is already so full. It would be unfair to other people to give up their seats just because a girl or an old person rode the bus. But then, if someone gives me his seat, I'd be very grateful. And if I am the one sitting and I see someone with a baby in her hands, or if the woman is pregnant, I'd get her my seat, but I wouldn't be doing that now, in any case, because I am pregnant myself. So I just refrain from riding a fully loaded bus. If I had a choice, I'd ride a jeep, just so I can sit well.

Just a week ago, I rode the bus and it was so full of people. The traffic was very heavy and the driver had a hard time finding a way. An old woman suddenly shouted that an important document she was holding flew out the window of the bus. It might have loosen out of her hand when the bus moved, and I could tell she was having a hard time keeping her balance (we all were, since we were standing and the bus was packed with people). A man in the front seat shouted at her, and told her she should have held it firmly. I pitied the old woman because I know it was hard for her standing there with things in her hand. I thought the man should have been more considerate. He was sitting comfortably and the old woman was standing along with others. The man was so fidgety. When we reached the toll gate, the bus encountered a problem and the driver had to stop it. The man shouted at the driver. The driver shouted back. It was early morning but you could feel the tension in the bus. Oh, it was disgusting!

When something like this happen, specially in the evening, i just want to cry. I mean, after a long day of work, where do they get the energy to yell at someone.

Yeah, i don't expect anyone as well. Have you experience a hot discussion among passengers? I hate is when a heated discussion starts on the bus. I mean, hey, if you want to be push and stomp, take a taxi!

If someone came on to the bus who was elderly or a pregnant woman or someone who just looked like they needed the seat more than me. I would happily give my seat away.

Most of people in our city Xamen will give seat to others if necessary, So do I. For the same reason, we don't like to seat in front of the bus, since all people here get on bus from front door, if you see someone need help, you'd better give you seat first.

If I'm travelling on a bus or train I give up my seat for an elderly person, physically disabled people, pregnant women or women with small children. Sometimes I'll also give up my seat if someone has a lot of bags to carry. I wouldn't expect someone to give up their seat for me just because I'm a woman though.

I can surely give my seat for anyone but it depends on a few things: 1. How i wud be feeling on that day, like my mood. 2. How will i be physically that day. 3. Does the other person really needs the seat desperately, like old age persons, lady with child, someione injured, etc.

I think I wont give seats to young girls, even I want to, its too embarrased for boys to give seats to unknown girls in my country. but I will give my seats to the old and the pregnent, this is for sure. the bus in my city usually has two kinds of seats, blue and red seats. the red seats are especially for the old and the pregnent. in general, I wont take the red seat even its empty, I prefer stand and leave the red seat for those who need it. have a good day.

I've never heard of that, does anyone who is neither pregnant nor elderly takes the red seat? Well, yeah it is true, when somebody offers me his seat unexpectedly, im a little bit embarrased, but i'll take the offer anyway. Ü

Elderly people, pregnant women, women with small children, and handicap people are who I usually give a spot up for. And that could be anything from a seat on a bus, to a seat at the kids ball game or school function.

I will give my seat to the elderly people. That's what you do.That's what respect is about. You just don't let them stand there in the bus. Unfortunately a lot people don't give away their seat.
