The little Laptop that could.

I have roughly a two year cycle on laptops since I am so rough on them. With an average cost of about $2300 each that is over a $1000 a year I spent on a mobile computing platform. However back in 2004 I had to make an emergency purchase in Europe and I picked up an Averatec cheapo laptop just to get me home. I spent $600 and the thing is still rocking. Seriously this little baby has been in the desert, dropped, kicked, soaked in coffee, left outside in the rain, manhandled by airport security and bounced along on the floor of my car for the last three years no problems. When our IT department's fancy Panasonic Toughbook bit the dust after 9 months my little overheating Averatec filled the gap. With the advent of windows Vista I am going to have to upgrade soon but I will miss my "Little Laptop that Could". Anyone else have a similar story or favorite laptop from the past?
