For me,they don't make sense-- I mean if one is on a spiritual retreat, the accomodation (room, food and other basic facilities) should be at least comfortable and relaxing. But none of thse were felt by our colleagues who went on a retreat for a few days off another island, in Bohol. Of course, they were so thankful to our school administrators for affording them that once-a-year opportunity. But they experienced the worst accomodation. Cramped in a small non-aircon rooms, the comfort rooms were far from being "comfortable", while food was very limited and could not pass the test for quality. This retreat house owned by a religious congregation could have been an ideal place for retreats as it is along the beach. Sad to say that with such a bad accomodation, what would have been an otherwise perfect retreat turned into a nightmare. Of course, the retreat master was good; but his words of wisdom had not been supported by the bad room, bad comfort room and bad food. The next batch of employees in our university would definitely NOT book that same place...not ever!
