ive been a commuter all my life. and i use both transits going to office and going back home. I am used to all the 'siksikan', 'tulakan' and all the other so-called adventures from being a regular MRT/LRT passenger. Which of these two would u prefer? and maybe, you can share with me your memorable LRT/MRT experience.. =)

Maybe both because for me they are the types of transportation that are used when going to places and also to avoid traffic. But there is still difference between the two of them, as you said mrt is always "siksikan" you cannot sit there anytime even if you are going to the office or going home its always like that. But using mrt you can go easily to different places while in lrt you can sit there smoothly and peacefully but there location is limited unlike mrt. As others say that lrt is for college students while mrt is for all.

yes, the more area is being served by the transportation system, the more people will be taking it. but all of us will surely take that transportation system which we can rely upon to take us to our destination fast and safe. this becomes a thinking that we have regardless of how much jampacked can become during rush hours.

i used to ride both. using LRT when i was still working in roxas blvd. everyday from monumento to gil puyat (gosh i thought i forgot the station) vice versa. when i transfer my job in ortigas i used the MRT. memorable? would it be the embarasing one? ha! ha! ha! I will never forget this day! at the LRT days, they don't have the control over the people coming in for the train. it was a rush hour. (guess you know what happened) an empty train came, so i was with my officemates. when the door opens up, i don't want to get in but i was pushed inside and yes i feel down, my whole body. then a guy helped me up but he keep on staring on me after wards that i said to myself i will remember his face so i will bump him next time.

i was told na mas grabe ang tulakan sa LRT than the MRT.. my mom rides the LRT on her way to work. one time, on her way to work, the train arrived, of course everyone started pushing each other just to get inside.. my mom slipped dun sa space between the platform and the train.. she had to go home and have herself checked because she was badly bruised..sad..

yes, thanks for the concern. I know they are controlling the crowd nga. to avoid the accidents and getting the train to overload causing more troubles for the commuters. thats what i do. id rather be late that be pushed by all those people. its like they get so excited when they see a train coming..

yah right, it is worst at LRT. i feel sorry for your mom. I saw some people happen that way also. But i guess now they are controlling the people coming in to avoid such mishaps. It's like, better you get late than get the accident. Tell your mom take care.

I'm an MRT junkie LOL I ride it as often as I can. I hate the smell of buses and pollution so I'd rather endure all those "stresses" when you ride the MRT. I've only ridden the LRT twice and well, the experience wasn't as good as the MRT experience. The train cars didn't have enough air conditioning and there were just too much graffiti.

ehy asteriskec, i too feel much better riding the MRT. mainly because compare to the LRT, the facility is much better. AC's good. and it looks 'maaliwas' compare to the LRT.. have u had the chance to ride to newwest LRT train? i think its called 3G or something like that.. its far better than the two trains of LRT.. but i find myself getting dizzy when i ride that particular train. i dont know why..

hey tanya8i8, i havent ridden in the newest LRT.. is it LRT 3? or something? the one from recto to katipunan? yeah, they say its much better than the other two transits.. nice facilities and the trains arrive at the station on time..

yeah.. its better riding mrt/lrt/ than riding a bus. though its more crowded but its faster. what LRT are you talking about, the taft LRT? the recto-santolan LRT is the cleanest lrt among all. and the stations are less crowded and buying a card doesnt take too much time.

the lrt and mrt had become popular fast, as a mode of transport within the city. one is freed from the hassles of traffic and the highly polluted air inside the comfortable cars. the mrt are the better of the two. however, commuters wouldn't really care which one is available for the ride. what counts most is the fact that these mode of transport can be reliably to count upon, in terms of bringing us to our destination without the hassles of traffic.

LRT and MRT are the best bet to avoid the traffic, especially along the EDSA.. especially in the morning, since i come from North, and my office is at Mandaluyong, its nice that i can take the MRT coz when i watch the morning shows, and they show the traffic reports, as early as 7am, traffic is sooooooo bad at Kamuning till Cubao.. thanks to these transportations, commuting is somewhat convenient.. =)

LRT and MRT have different routes, and I use it whenever i feel i need to rush to my appointments, and i am never disappointed each I use these trains. The siksikan, tulakan and all, has become part of it, it becomes a normal way of taking these training for commuting. So if one could not really bite these, these are always other ways to travel to your destination, take the bus, take a taxi or a megataxi, or better yet, take your car. But i wager, taking commuter trains is a lot more quicker to arrive at your destination.

i agree. these trains are a lot help with commuters. dagdag adventure na lang un siksikan and tulakan.. =) i prefer taking the mrt-lrt route going home (kahit na umiikot pa aq), coz i have a set time while traveling. unlike the buses who has a lot of stops (and i mean a lot!) and also, there's the famous EDSA traffic..

Between me choosing MRT vs LRT 1 I would choose MRT since the trains are much better looking and is much comfortable there. The door too closes too loud in LRT 1 which makes your trip unpleasant everytime the door closes and opens. But if I would choose LRT2 vs MRT I would say its better to ride LRT2 since the place is much more cleaner to look at and the exits are much more easier to follow than MRT

i'll prefer lrt line 2. its cleaner and bigger than mrt and the old lrt line. the stations are also nice, you'll feel like your in a japan station. hahaha.. what i like about the new lrt line is that the train is not divided into cables. so you can go from the last unit to the driver since they are connected inside. between mrt and lrt, mrt shmpre. more units have running airconditioning systems compared to lrt. and the stations, lrt really sucks. tehey need to change evertyhing, its really a disaster.

i know.. MRT is still comfortable and convenient than the old LRT line. but the one thing i appreciate in the old LRT is that, aside from having a separate section for the girls and the boys, inside the girls section, they still have a special area for pregnant women, elder, disabled and those with kids and babies. i wish MRT would also have that kind of special area coz sometimes i see pregnant ladies standing and getting pushed by all the people getting off and coming in the train. i havent tried the LRT 2 line, though from what i hear from my friends who use that line, its really the better train out of the three. (LRT1 and MRT).

I chose both because MRT and LRT because they cater to different places. If for example I would go to Makati or what I'll choose MRT while for Manila area I'll go for LRT regardless of the "siksikan" and "tulakan" thing. Besides, those are really part of the commuting experience her in the Philippines.

i think the LRT line from Recto to Santolan is less gruesome. i prefer that! about some funny experience, one time, while i was riding the train, a monotone of "PINOY AKO" (yep, the PBB theme song) echoed really loud and everyone started making faces. i was making faces too since i was thinking "who'd have their phone at that volume?" it went on from cubao station until i got off. YEP, turned out my little brother played a prank on me and left his cellphone inside my bag at max volume and called me non-stop. crazy kid.
