I have toshiba notebook as well.....may be you have to much running on your notebook..especially in start up..u dont need all those program running on your notebook..you can check whats running on your start up..on Run type msconfig then in general, check selective start up,the go to start up just check the program that you want running when you open your notebook e.g antivirus,firewall...

I have a Dell one which is fast as I have 2 GB RAM. A couple of my friends have Toshiba. One of them complains abt it being slow as he has only 256 MB RAM on it. Other one having 512 MB RAM is damn happy with it and prefer it more than Dell. So check out on ur RAM. By The way, how much is it?

I own a Toshiba notebook and mine runs quite fast compared with same configuration in HP, Compaq, Acer etc. I think it definitely is a virus. I suggest you try an online scan like on www.nanoscan.com. It will surely help. Also please tell me your exact configuration of the notebook.

My notebook is also Toshiba. It serves me well. Here is its spec.
Intel Centrino Mobile 1.7GHz
RAM: 1024 MB
I don't know your system spec. If your notebook is too slow my be it is virus infected, small RAM, or too many service processes. I had a problem once also.
After installing MS Defender, my system frequently started up slowly. Then I had the software removed and my system is coming back. I think this is because the MS upgrade system that caused the computer san very slow.
