yes his talent in boxing can't be denied. he sure can punch the life out of any one who gets in his way. and his generosity can't be overlooked just like the fact that he didn't finish a college degree. i have nothing against him as a person and as a boxer. i am even a fan but i sure think it's ambitious of him to run for a position. why can't he be contented in the life he is having? it is already a circus and now he wants to enter a bigger one? i think he is just listening too much to politicians like atienza and singson. problem is they are talking in english so he didn't understand what they are talking about. lol
would you vote for him?

I do beleive it is the right of every Filipino citizen to decide whether he likes to run or not in this election. So I guess let him run and let the constitutents decide what is best for their own district. If he wins good for him and hopefully he could really make his district properous just like what he is saying in his campaign. Hopefully politicians who are behind his back wouldn't take advantage of his lack of knowledge in this career. I know there are many politicians hiding behind his back and just waiting for him to win thru his popularity and when election time comes and he forutnately wins then its payback time for those that supported him. I do pray that he could really manage his own district and show to those that do not beleive in him that they are wrong.

Read in between the lines and you'll find my answers there. It is his own district to decide on whether they believe that Pacquiao is qualified or not. If he wins then his constituents believe that he is qualified and we should respect that, if he loses then it need no more answering this question anymore the people has spoken already.

am, I guess I will, emjay I will ask you a question, what are the qualifications of running for congressman? as far as I know If you are 35 years of age, a filipino born citizen, has finished highschool, then you are qualified. You know the capacity of a certain person does not depend on what he had finished, but of what he can do. another question, in the last years, who are the congressman of that district? did anything happened? did she did something good? is their any improvements? no, there is none, I knew because I am from that district.
you know if the office persons can't do things that can improve our district, (because on the first place they do not know the insides of the poor persons because they themselves did not experienced it,) why not we try the boxer, maybe he can do a thing, because I believe nowadays intelligence is not the most important thing in politics, but the heart of a person, because pacquiao before is poor, and one of us, I know he undersatnds our insights and feelings.
It's worth a try!, I guess

Well,Im not from your place and same with emjay i have nothing against paquio as a boxer.I'm his fan and I can say that he has a good heart. What I dont understand is that why many people like him have no contentment in life?He now have all the money and popularity so how about focusing in his boxing career rather than entering politics.Ok,I knew we all have the freedom to enter politics but my question is,Is he physically and mentally prepared to be a congressman?I'm sure you know that the main responsibility of a congressman is to represents the citizens in their congressional district and he represents constituents by voting for or against laws that are important to his citizens. Now,do you think he can handle all of this?Does he have all his time to focus in this responsibilty? Its hard to shot two birds at the same time.In his case being a boxer and a politician.Do you think it's easy?I'm not trying to under estimate his ability but we have to understand a congressman most of the time deals with laws and do you think he can easily understand this things without even a single background on this?Lawyers took many years and hard time to understand a certain law.Even doctors took many years to be in their profession. Now tell me what a boxer can do in congress?According to you he belongs to the poor and you expect that he knows your insights and feelings but for me if he's really willing to help he can still help your community without entering politics.
Anyway this is just my thought...thanks.:)

thanks ydnacc22...and sorry if you think i was giving harsh comments but don't you think that where ever you are in the philippines the political system is just the same? i know because i have relatives that ran and are running for office and hearing the stories behind elections, believe me there is no politician with 100% clean intention.
yes you have enumerated the qualifications but let's not be stupid here. being qualified to run doesn't mean that they are competent. tell me can you honestly say that you believe in manny's competence to draft, make, and pass a bill? come on let's not be blind we all know that the reason why manny is running is because of whispers from other officials. and about those past congressmen, aren't them the true examples of how bad the qualifications set by our constitution?people should really learn to take responsibility and think of not just now but also the tomorrow. it's not about how kind or how popular a person is, it takes intellect and a heart to serve. besides improvements can't be done by a single person, the community and its people should be the first to take action.
why not try a boxer? well first because boxing is far more different than looking after the welfare of a community. and again i agree with ydnacc22. why can't he be contented? does he really think he can handle the legal responsibilities?he can't even finish a decent english sentence, what more a bill?sorry, harsh but true.
about intelligence...i'm not saying that is the sole thing necessary but i do think it's a big thing. intellect, heart and grounded principles with pure intentions. that's a perfect leader. but nobody's perfect but we can settle for someone almost perfect. knowing the needs is not just what we need, what we need is someone who knows the needs and can think of ways to answer those needs.
besides if he really wants to help, isn't he helping already even before he decided to run?

No. I am from the province of Rizal. And even if I were a voter in their place I would not vote for Pacquiao as congressman. We don't need a boxer in congress. The fight already too much. A real boxer should not be there for there might be real boxing there.

I agree with you. There are other ways or means to help. Why not use his money in legal ways? I, and my whole family will not vote for him. To good to be true. Better if he stick in boxing.

pacquiqao should stick to boxing instead of getting involved in politics. what does he know for one? he'll just get swallowed up by the dirty world of politics. he'll just be a puppet for greedy politicians. yes, yes his intentions maybe good but then, let's all get real can we? politics is not a clean and fair game. it consists of power-hungry offici9als determined to use any means just to get more powerful. he'll just be used! he didn't even finish college for instance, how would he know if he's been cheated? let's leave the politics to the more knowledgeable please.

I think he could help our country in another way by supporting organizations with good cause. As a politician to be, i doubt if he could do his job because he has not yet any background in making laws.

listening without understanding? and when asked why he would run for congress he said he wants to help and reachout to more filipinos by running to congress...and his personal funds are not enough to help lots of people, i think this is just a shallow reasoning and i think he doesn't fully understand the responsibility of being a congressman if serving is the people at full capacity.
he received a big boo when he visited cebu the last time he was here for an event.
he should stick with boxing and if not concentrate in making more money. no i won't vote for him.

I guess we cant really judge manny because we do not know whatever it is or for whatever reasons he have for running as a congressman. It might be because he wants to serve the people and besides he has the money for it... and the business pa.. he can be of help...
But then if his reasons would be like all those other politicians... well thats not good...

I wouldn’t vote for him. We too are Pacquio fans, but as a boxer and not as a politician.
Congress is a legislative branch of the government and I think you really should have a background and an experience to properly make bills for the benefit of his constituents.
He is always saying that he just wanted to help his constituent that’s why he wanted to run for congress. But I think he would do much more for his country if he remains as a boxer and stay away from politics. And if his intentions are really true, he can always help others even if he is not in Congress.
I definitely won’t vote for him. Our country is already in a deep mess and electing somebody who I think would not help our country is really a foolish thing to do.

yeah. voters should really realize the responsibilities of the positions they are voting for. all they think is that politicians are the ones that will take them out of poverty but it's not that simple really. i think the people too should know what they are voting for so we could get out of this mess.

ambitious people like pacquiao must show respect to the filipino people by earning a college degree first before running for a congressional seat. if you're a grade school graduate and you're a boxer, nobody would mind. but if you want to represent your district in the congress, puleez, go to school first!
i don't think it would hurt to sacrifice at least 8years of his life in school (highschool and college) before entering the political arena.
the capability to give a hundred peso each to his neighbors every after a fight does not automatically give him the right to be at the Batasang Pambansa.

It's not wise decision that Pacquiao enters in politics. Yes, he wants to help his fellow Filipinos but that job is not his field. Why not help in other ways like donating money or helping workers to have supplies in their work? I agree to the fact that politicians just use him. Well, it's up to Pacquiao if he can survive in the ring of politics.

No, at this point, I wont vote for him. In boxing, you need a lot of training, vigorous ones. Manny Pacquiao spent his life punching boxing bags, strict discipline and a lot more. You just need to practice more and train harder for one to succeed in boxing. It's undeniable he worked hard for it starting from the smallest until he make it where he stands now. The same theory applies to POLITICS. He has to learn a lot first before he begin doing it. He should start small and then make it big. It's so sad that he aimed to be a congressman although he knows little about the responsibility it entails. I know Manny Pacquia is good at heart. Maybe its true that he just wants to help. But he must have studied it first. If he had made it from the bottom, he should make his way up to the top. If that time comes, then I will vote for him.

Pacquiao will be running as a congressman for Gensan City right? We really don't know what his capabilities would be if he would be running as a congressman. Anyway, if ever he wins, we will know how Pacquiao would be doing in the Congress and people who truly support him will then think twice if in the next elections, he would run again.
But I agree with you when you said that he's been listening to too much politicians. I guess he's been influenced by that but it would then be again his decision. I guess he knows the difference of boxing and being in Congress but who knows what's in Pacquiao's mind why he run for congress.
Regarding your question "why he can't be contented in the life he is having", I think he is contented enough. He wins millions in boxing match and even have many endorsements but despite of that he remains humble because it is really true that he really helps the people in Gensan and also in Davao City.
