How do you feel about little girls in beauty pageants? Do you have children who have been in or are currently participating in beauty pageants? How do you feel about all the makeup and false teeth and wigs and such being used for girls who are only 4 or 5 years old...or even in their teens? What are we teaching our girls by doing this?

I think its ridiculous to go to extravagances like that, its teaching her that beauty is everything, some families go into extreme debt over this spending sometimes over $5 and 10,000 a month i have heard and its insane! I have put my daughter into a few but just for fun, she wore a $50 dress and blush on her cheeks that was it, just for fun. win or lose dont matter. if you do it for fun once in awhile i think its okay, but some parents get so into it like you said: wigs, tons of makeup, expensive dresses.

I completely agree with you. My mother-in-law hosts a local pageant and the rules for ages up to 6 are no pageant dresses, no shoes (barefoot), no makeup. Points are deducted for any violations. At the younger ages it should be about their natural beauty. I feel that some mothers are trying to relive or capture something they so desperately wanted.
