Early this morning i went to an Air Force exam which my father have told me. I taught i could really take an exam because when i inquire yesterday the assign proctor told me i can take and no problem. I told my father what if i dont pass the height. he said to me no problem because he will provide for the height waiver and he already talk to the officer. Oh to mention my father is a retired Air force and im a dependent. So he give me the hope i can enter. So i did went this morning and there were many people who wanted to take. So we line up and then measure us one by one. And as i expect i didnt pass the height requirements. I was really frustrate then because i was hoping i could take the exam and could enter the military. My father is also frustrate too as he really like me to get into Air Force too. They give us false hope but i dont have any choice but to accept it. Though its really sad and very much frustrating to get failed i dont have choice but to accept it and move on. Have you tried something like this, perhaps other situation which you hope and then feel frustrated and sad because you didnt pass?

Something like this happened though not to me but to my sister. After graduating from college, she applied to a pharmaceutical company whose height requirement was 5'2". Unfortunately, she was only 5'1" so she failed to make it. She was so sad when she came home that I promised her that I would put up a company whose height requirement would be 5'1" and those whose height is higher will not be accepted. Failing in something you have no control of is really frustrating. Neither you nor my sister could have done anything to increase height but there certainly are other things waiting for your expertise or knowledge. Don't get discouraged to try other things.

We have the same height as your sister and mostly here in our country, i bet you know that. That most countries are requiring 5'2 for females. Sigh! thats really frustrating but what can i do but just to move on and dont get discouraged. Definitely your right maybe there is other things that is waiting for me. Thanks for the nice advice piropos.

Luckily for me, I never had that experience. All the jobs I applied for had no height requirement. Why don't you see a doctor to prescribe some medicines which can boost your height requirement? They have that now. Maybe by next year you will make it. I presume that you are short only by a few centimeters to desire to join the air force.

So sad you didn't pass the height requirements. Is there any other way to be reconsider? My best friend got deny too, for height requirements. He was quite disappointed, because when finally he was so sure of what he wanted to pursue. Height was the only barrier. (^^,)

I have been through disapointment a few times in my life. Like you said you just have to accept it and move on! Don't let is discourage you, although I can't take away your disapointment, I do hope that you take comfort in knowing that, there will come a day wheen you look back and realize that this experince has not only hurt you but helped you to move on to bigger and better things.

Come to think of it yes your absolutely right liyan. Failures makes us strong when moving on. It makes us a better person and i think that is very helpful.

I'm so sorry about your experience! I didn't realize so many jobs had height restrictions. I can see the military (especially the Air Force) having such restrictions, but retail jobs and other civilian jobs like that? Interesting. I have never had a problem with my height, however I am rather tall. I certainly hope that this is just a sign that the military wasn't the right path for you and there is something better out there.

yup. that's the best way to handle every negative situation. just have a positive attitude and everything will be better. not all things are meant for us. and so, we just move on and hope for something better.

I had also many experiences regarding frustration when you did not get what you have wanted. In your case, when you failed to pass the height requirement of the Air Force. But don't let this experience and frustration let you down, instead make it as a motivation to move on (just what you are doing) and who knows maybe a better opportunity is waiting for you. Most of my case came also with my job application where if not failing the examination, then it should be the final interview. I get frustrated because I cannot passed the better job opportunity that is coming with my life.

yes Tholitz i agree with you, instead of feeling sorry for myself and be frustrated, i should be motivated more to achieve what i wanted, motivate to move on. Well i guess like me your opportunity is not yet come so dont be frustrated too. Im sure we can find our better opportunity sooner.

I am sorry to hear this did not work out for you. Do not worry, another door will open and you will see there is something else out there for you. As for the AirForce, it is their loss.

Sad to hear it, but you should move on. If you keep thinking about it you will just feel worse. How tall are you? As I know Air Force pilots must be top health and perfect height and weight. I have never had similar situation as far as I know, but there were some thing that were a bit similar to yours in my school. I was great student and I used to go on competitions from lots of subjects. I have written the test great and had to wait half of day for the results. For 4-5 times i missed few points to enter next stage of competition. Although I haven't passed I felt proud cuase it was a proof of my intelligence.

A lot of times, i feel depressed when i dont get what i deserve. But the only way out is to think positively and get the confidence that atleast the next time, we would succeed. I feel that there is no point in keeping on bragging about it. We need to ditch it as quickly as possible and get a move on in life. Because life is short. We need to enjoy it to the fullest.

I am very sorry that you did not make the height requirements. What are they if you don't mind my asking? Height should not be a factor when doing things because it would exclude lots of people. And they have things that they can do to make things workable for all heights. Like driving cars with the peddle extenders and things that you can put into your seat to make you sit up higher. I believe that to pass you over because of your height is a bit on the stupid side if you ask me. For all they knew you could have been one of the best people in the air force!

I'm sorry you didn't pass, but I am more sorry that people filled you with false hope. Just as you cant change your height, the Air Force can't change their requirements. Multi-million dollar jets are not build with adjustable seats. Being too short or too tall for the Air Force is a real issue, as the equipment can only fit a certain size body to be safely used. I know, you would think that being so expensive, they could make them adjustable. But actually, there is so much electronics and controls inside a jet, that there isn't room to change the seat sizes. So, again, I am sorry. It wasn't fair for anyone to tell you that the Air Force would bend their rules for you, because they can't.

Yes many times and now have gotten used to rejections. Anyway, try something else. I always believe in fate. If it's meant to be yours, it's meant to be yours. As long as we have taken the steps to try, it doesn't mean that we are doing anything with our life. Sometimes, we need to be at the right place and at the right time. Just take it that the job is not meant for us and there's something better out there for you. Try to look at other alternatives to that. Maybe, something else is waiting for you out there. Just persevere and keep on trying for others. Good luck and best wishes......
