Have you ever experienced myLot burnout?

I was going strong for the first week, determined to get to that elusive 500 mark, but I overdid it, I'm afraid, and have been taking a break. I was just wondering whether or not any of you have felt similarly.
Do you myLot (used as a verb) everyday, or do you take breaks?

I'm here just about everyday, but I do it in small spurts of 20 minutes or less, just so I don't get burned out on it to quickly. I learned my lesson rather quickly. When I first started here I would spend hour upon hour on here and I did get burned out from that. So I prefer to do it in smaller intervals and I find I don't get burned out on Mylot.

As loathe as I am to admit this, I think I was spending three to four hours per day, my first few days. I quickly learned not to do that!

That's not to bad, I was on here nearly 6 to 7 hours a day. Yeah it was that bad. It sort of took over my life for a little while there. Spending nearly every waking hour on here can really burn someone out. In fact I had to take a week off just to catch up on sleep I had deprived myself from.

Yikes! Six to seven hours on a consistent, everyday basis would require copious amounts of caffeine. And given the way caffeine causes me to start cleaning my whole house, I'd rather not. It seems my time here is even less now than when I started this discussion.

Yes, I have experienced this, and several others too, it would seem. It's not just that you spend too long here, it's the fact that sometimes, the discussions being posted are of little value and possibly unanswerable, but a break will help. I come in every day but the amount of time I spend in Mylot depends greatly on which discussions are here to be responded to and which of my discussions have responses to which I have to reply.
Brightest Blessing... have a good break and refresh and congratulations on reaching your 500 mark.

Well said, and thank you! The mini-breaks that I've been affording myself have been working out quite nicely. I just have to remind myself to continue taking them.

i don't think it's a true burnout,but i have "meh" days.
especially when there just doesn't seem anything to respond to.
i usually do wander in at some point everyday, though.

I know how that goes. Today was a good myLot day for me. I managed to resolve a bunch of discussions and post a ton of comments.

I will come to mylot everyday if possible.
At firstly, I post lots of discussions and reply less and I want to hit 500 asap.
Due to poor internet, I always lose my reply or post ,so if I can copy them to another place when internet is not going on ,and then I copy them back.
Then I will not waste my effort.
but recently, my internet is better, and I am not afraid the internet problem so much, so I will have a little break when I am tried, but I will keep look up other one's post, too.

Oh, that drives me crazy, when you take the time to type out a few paragraphs, hit post, then have the browser crash! Normally, I would copy what I type before posting, but without the ability to paste, it does little good, that is, unless you want to paste it into a text file and then retype it, word for word.

I am on the quest for my first 500 myself. I have not experienced burnout yet but I think my hand and fingers are getting a little bit tired. LOL.
I'm still on my first month here and I feel that I have not explored all the discussions. I'm sure there are still a lot of hidden or buried "gems" that I still need to uncover. I'm having a great time and hope that I don't get burned out soon.
I did take a break for 2 days though because I haven't been getting enough sleep and my body just could not take it anymore. Now that I've recharged, I'm posting away again.

Sleep deprivation, I've found, can cause the mind to create some of the most interesting discussions. When I approach the precipice of delerium, there's no telling what I will post.

I only joined mylot 7 days ago. I had earned 18c in 5 days. Then yesterday I thought why the heck not...so I went for my 100th just so I could get my star....wow I not only did up to my 100th post yesterday & discovered my rating of 4...but I passed it & ended the day with 103. Then today I log in & whoa I have a star rating of 7...woo hoo. I was in heaven...pity that I had ony earned 52c for my efforts yesterday though but hey all is good....now just have to get a rating of 10 & I can die a happy wench.

I missed this, as it fell on the second page. A happy wench, you say? Ha, ha! That's funny. And, I must say, I LOVE your avatar. That's one of the cutest thus far.

I haven't taken an entire day off just yet, I'm not that burned out, but perhaps I should, just to keep things even.

yes I also did the exact same thing as you.. Now I usually just come and check out whats been going on about twice a week sometimes I miss a week all together.. I have been a member for about 9 months now and find that I have some months that I never seem to be able to get off and others that I just cant find something worth responding too. at first I spent all day every day on here but that didn't take long to wear off..

I've been here over 6 months and there are times where I have been gung ho and spent all day here. And, there have been times I've thought of quitting because some people can get mean. But, lately, I think I'm getting burned out and am slowing down. I don't know if anyone noticed that I am posting way less lately. I am more picky about what I reply to because I see a lot of discussions that I have already replied to in-depth before. And, I might be having a little writer's block and can't seem to know what to write or what discussions to start. So, I am going to take it easy and just post when I can.

I've noticed repeat questions, in my short time here. Sadly, I've been one to post them! I should probably search for something before jumping to start a new discussion, but I don't always do that. Oh, the poor bandwidth!

I don't usually mind a repeat discussion or two. Sometimes, I really like to talk about a certain subject and will answer a lot of discussions about it. But, after 6 months or so, it begins to get draining and less fun to answer them.

I suppose repeat questions are okay if there's a bit of a different spin. It's amazing what a few added, or subtracted, words can do.

For the five avtive months I've been here, this is the only time where I felt a total burnout. I have alot of friends now, and I have them but I can't seem to respond to soem of their discussions. Though I respond to some, I barely get comment from them. I value and see comments from my views as a consolation for the effort that I've done, but they keep on skipping it. And I guess they get used up on me, so I'm kind of thinking if I can delete some of them to help me feel good again about myself..

I'm not sure how many friends you have (I haven't checked), but I have a bunch, relatively speaking, and not everyone of them reply or comment on my replies. In all fairness to them, I don't think they go back to see if their replies have been commented on and such. I would imagine it makes matters even more difficult if you have A LOT of friends. I know I'm not nearly as diligent as I should be.

Well, it took me a lot longer than a week to get 500 posts! In fact, I started here in mid-January, and you can see my current post count. =p
I do occasionally get burnout though. There are those days that I just don't want to do it, or I'll read a few things but not post anything. Thankfully I have built-in mylot breaks (work, baby, roleplaying game) so I don't get too bad!

Actually I was talking about old fashioned tabletop roleplaying. Every Monday I'm usually offline because we have a game at our house. You know, the kind where you have books and make up characters and role dice, like Dungeons and Dragons and things like that. We're currently playing SLA Industries. =P
I do also play World of Warcraft, but I haven't been on there much lately. A friend of mine from here is going to start playing it, so I'm excited about that!

Ah, I wish I lived nearby. Perhaps I could join your group! I've always wanted to get into the tabletop variety, it's just that I've never had an opportunity to do so.

I know all about how time-consuming role-playing can be. I used to play EverQuest (an online RPG), for a heinous amount of hours each day.

I have not expereinced it before. I have been mylotting everyday hee and I am enjoing a whole lot. The payout is a great motivation. There were times that I was kinda busy with work and have not enough time to post a lot. Some times I got so busy with reading and having fun learning more that I have forgotten to post new posts.
My advice is just keep it alive, slowly, and double time now that you are nearing your 500th posts, coz when u hit 500 you can have the cut and paste benefits here on mylot and it can help yo improve your posting lifestle here on mylot.

Being that I like to provide people with URLs to things that I think may be of some benefit to them, the ability to copy/cut and paste will be a wonderful boon. That's one of the things keeping me going . . . I'm almost there!

I suppose I do have quite a few posts considering how new I am, but the novely has worn off a bit, but don't get me wrong, I still love it here, it's just that I have to moderate myself else I may walk away and not come back.

I tend to post here in bursts, where I'll respond to a bunch of discussions one day, and then not touch the site for a while. Of course, that probably has to do with the fact that I am a freelance writer and my work schedule is unpredictable. Sometimes I'll just be too busy to come here, and other times I'll be waiting for a response from a client and am very glad that MyLot is there to keep me company until I can move forward on a job. I don't think that I would be able to keep up posting a lot if I came here every day, though-- variety is the spice of life!

I have been a member for a little over a month, and tried so hard to make my $10..usually spending 4 or 5 hours a day at the computer! THen I thought..what am I doing? I am not getting anything important done..LOL!
Not that Mylot is unimportant, but Mommy's have to do laundry and make dinner! LOL!
I have yet to make the 500 mark, and would really love to have a pretty blue star like you! Maybe some day!
