Fox cancels Drive!

I read in wikipedia that Fox has cancelled the show Drive on the 25th April. Although the pilot episode being watched by over 6 million viewers, Fox has prematurely ended the show :( Lack of advertisement/hype has been blamed for the cancellation. I can't believe these people. There are some good news though. The final 2 episodes will be aired this summer. And the show has been scheduled to continue into it's season season later. Can someone confirm this? Found it in wikipedia.

Here is a confirmation from TV Guide: http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Exclusive-Fox-Cancels/800013604#comments I suppose I should be more sad about this, but I was never that excited about the show to begin with. I must admit though that I was really hoping for a hit for Nathan Fillion. I think the guy is pretty talented and after Firefly got canceled so early on, I was cheering for him Let's just hope that Fox comes out with something else that might interest us as well.

You've got to be kidding right? I love that show. My son and I watch it every week. What are these people at Fox thinking. I know that in that time slot there is nothing good on regular TV. Its really sad. Its seems like everytime I get interested in a show they cancel it. I dont gte a lot of time to watch but I set aside time on Monday to watch it with my son since he is a big car freak so that was kindof like our special time. Fox stinks!!!!

What I had heard is that ratings for their other show "24" dropped and Fox blamed it on Drive. Stupid Fox. Maybe they should blame 24's ratings dip on 24's sucking. I've really enjoyed the show so far. It meets my main requirement for continuing to watch any series: I want to know what happens next. When I stop caring what happens next, I stop watching the show. Drive has consistently been interesting enough that I want to know more.

I'm bummed. I liked the show. Maybe they'll put it on iTunes. I think I read that there are nine un-aired episodes. I could be wrong. Fox, shmox. I wouldn't ever watch them if it wasn't for American Idol. They wouldn't know a good show if it bit them in the asp.

I'm with Krebstar. I mostly watched for Nathan Fillion, I really wanted him to have a hit. He's such a fun and talented guy, I really want to see some good things happen for him. One thing though, he hasn't had much luck with Fox. I do have to admit, sometimes I think that Fox dosen't give shows enough time to ramp up...or to get word for mouth out there. But I'm not a TV executive, so what do I know? I just think it takes a little while to really get into a show. They always seem really anxious to get another reality show running. I wonder how they will wrap up the show? Will it be open ended or will it end with Alex finding his wife.

That a good point about how the show will end. With such an early cancellation, I wonder if they will have time to wrap things up. They managed to do it with Wonderfalls. The last few episodes were available on the DVD.

Monday night, 5:00 -- home from work and eat the dinner my daughter has ready. 6:00 kids through the shower, teeth brushed in their jammies. 7:00 read bedtime stories and all the kids in bed so that at 8:00 Watch DRIVE!! What a disappointment to see reruns of House instead. I've heard Fox cancelled it because of low ratings on "24" I got news for them, 24 is dying on its own, the story line ended 2 weeks ago but they still had 5 or 6 hours left to fill. This subplot with Jack and Audrey just ain't doing it for many of us vieweres -- that is the real reason 24's ratings have dropped. And since they cancelled Drive, my Monday night viewing will be done on another channel. So they kinda cut off their noses to spite their faces. Too bad some other network isn't smart enough to pick up the show. Given the right time and publicity, I think it would have been a hit.

I was just at http://www.fox.com/drive/ and saw that it says the last 2 episodes will air this summer. So is the race going to be over and it's gone, or is it just 2 episodes and no real conclusion? I can't wait to see what they have for the end. Was this originally going to be a short series and not continuous, or did it just not grab enough viewers.
