How old was your dog when she was completely housebroken? What kind of dog was it? I know smaller breeds tend to be alittle harder because their bladders are smaller. My golden retriever was completely housebroken by 12 weeks i worked hard with her, my brother's dog a german shepherd/lab mix is 4 months and still not housebroken i tell him constantly to work with her on this.

When our miniature daschund was a month old when we got him and after 2 weeks, he was already housebroken. My husband did all the training. We have him in the bathroom if we go out and my husband line it with newspaper. When we got back, our puppy will be doing his thing in the newspaper. Then my husband move the newspaper to the front door then keep on taking him outside until he learned. He had little accidents but we thought it would take longer than usual.

Well I have a 7 month old black mouth cur I just got from the pound a month ago. He is almost completely housebroken but has his mistakes every now and then. Then I have a 8 month old chihuahua that is 8 months old and she is the hardest thing ever. I take her out all the time and she refuses to go outside. I can stay out for hours with her and she holds it until she comes back in. This past week or so she has been going outside to pee but not poop so I guess we're making progress. I just need help getting them completely housebroken.

It really does depend on the dog and how the owner works with them. My three oldest dogs were all housebroken by 12 or 16 weeks. Currently, I have a litter of 6 Siberian Huskies who are 5 weeks old and they have been using newspaper for potty time since they were 3 weeks old. By the time the leave for their new homes in another week they will be fully housetrained as they are getting ready to start going outside.

I have a Boston Terrier, Brady, he is now two years old. I got him when he was about 8 weeks old and had the hardest time house breaking him. It was easy to train him to go on the doggy pads, but I would walk him everyday several times a day and move his doggy pads closer and closer to the door each day but it never seemed to work. He finally got half way house broken around when he was about eight months old. Still prefers to use the doggy pads and when I do take him for a walk he does use the bathroom half time time well no number two and we can walk for hours, but he waits till we get and does number to on the doggy pads. He so weird, but I love him anyways.
