I think the sister who is best with finances and is in the best emotional state should handle the parent's estate. It's not always the oldest, and a lot of parents just figure their kids will take care of everything and don't specify who should do what.

I am the youngest of nine children. When my mother passes away I will handle her estate. I don't believe that you can go by age. My oldest sister doesn't want to honor my moms wishes. I will be the onr to handle everything because my mom knows that everyting she has asked to be done will be done the way she stated. A parent or parents should discuss what they are wanting for their final days. With some children parents even have to put everything in writing such as my mom has to make sure that thier wishes are honored.
