I'm a fan of Survivor and this has been the first season other than the original season that I have not been able to watch (classes and no recorder)In the past I haven't missed even an episode... Anyway, I've wondered why they haven't done something completely different.....I'm being truly serious here... Why not something that takes them out of tropical places and puts them in the cold or out of the ordinary...
Survivor New York ... they would have to live on the streets.. either in the heat of summer or cold of winter...no food, no money...what about in a cold climate... they could maybe be given a few extra items to keep them warm but not above that...
Do you think producers would even consider it? Too boring of a setting? New York not isolated enough? Cold too dangerous? What do you think....

Although an interesting idea, I do not think that would work well as they need an isolated place away from civilization. If it was in NY or any other state, they could get help and advice from other people walking around or from stores and other places. Being on an isolated island is the only place really where they would have to work hard as individuals and as teams. The challenges would not be interesting if held in the states. Being the states would take a lot away from the show.

I agree with filmbuff about Alaska. I think that could potentially work as a setting for the show. I saw a show where a guy was dropped off on a glacier in Alaska and he had to find his way back to civilization. It was interesting to see what he did to survive in the tough terrain with very little supplies. I really don't think New York would work. I really don't want to see the girls begging guys on the street to buy them a hotdog or a burger at Burger King. The show is about survival.. being able to catch your own food and make your own shelter.. basically living off the land. I don't think you want to eat a NYC rat or anything you caught in the East River.

I think New York would be out of the question because it's not isolated enough. Besides what are they going to do for food? Dig through trash cans, hunt pigeons and rats? I highly doubt they could get the permits for it and would really be too dangerous for the contests. What would the immunities be? Jay walking Survival, subway train races, running the junkie guantlet?
Alaska could be interesting though, there are a few a months a year when it is relativly warm, it is remote, there is wildlife. That could be a good show.
