Have you been involved in a car accident? How about tickets?

I was just curious about the correlation between the number of years that you have driven...and if you have ever had a car accident!
I learned to drive at 12 and am now 42...with no accidents to date.
OK, I will have to admit that I did get a speeding ticket when I was 20...I had driven all night from Oklahoma to South Dakota to pick up my Grandma and take her back with me, on the way home at about 9am I was clocked by a Nebraska trooper, doing 64 in a 55. I paid the fine...and was more careful after that!

I learned to drive when I was 15. I have never had a speeding ticket (knock wood!) and I have only been in one accident. The accident was not my fault though; I was 22 at the time and I was in the right lane, driving by cars in the left turn lane, which was stopped. Some guy decided to change lanes without looking. Luckily, I saw him start over and was able to hit the brakes and veer into the ditch, so he only dinged the front fender of my car with his door; it could have been worse.
My truck was also in an another accident, but it was parked in front of my house when a drunk drive careened down our street and hit 3 vehicals. I was inside on my couch, so I don't think that really reflects on my driving skills. :-)

I have had several speeding tickets. Most are for going over 20 mph over the speed limit. Yes, I have a lead foot. I was in a car accident with my brother. He rear ended a lady in front of us when he got his first car. He was not used to driving a stick shift and he accelerated and the lady had not moved yet. We barely did any damage to her, but our hood looked like a tent! When we got home with the tow truck driver, my mother began throwing shoes at us and yelling at us. I was also in an accident when I was on the highway with my ex husband, daughter and dog traveling to visit his family. We got dinged by a big rig, apparently we were in his blind spot and he tried to veer into the right lane. Luckily I was able to keep the car on the road and maintain control. He hit us pretty hard. It scared everyone in the car pretty badly! Not to mention the urine stain in the seat from my dog! Oh, it was awful! I was eating corn chips and they ended up in my hair. LOL

Hm, I got my license when I was 21, and now I am 26 so 5 years of driving. No tickets or being pulled over yet. 3 days after my license I had to drive from Nebraska to Florida. I made it to Missouri, and a dump truck didn't yeild coming off the on ramp, and forced me into another lane, so I accelerated and made in front of the car that was staying by my side in the left lane, but I guess it freaked him out or he thought I was too close, so he swung off the road, and swerved too hard and ended up going backwards across the lanes of traffic, and ended up hitting the rear on his car on a piece of construction equipment. after i went in front of him i just pullled to the shoulder on the left while this was all happening. The police came, and wrote a report that stated I was a not at fault driver, but somehow my insurance company has it as an at fault accident even though I sent them the report (i think they are blaming me because they paid the other car's claim). So I will count it as an accident, but now I don't drive much now because that whole thing kind of freaked me out!
I dont think I drive enough to get a ticket, haha!

I've gotten one speeding ticket, 14 years ago, one parking ticket and two accidents. One accident i ran into the back of someone, it was in a turning lane, I didn't see any traffic for them so i started looking for cars i'd need to yield to and didn't notice that they had stopped so i bumped into them. It cost $497 to fix their rear bumper and plastic stuff. The second accident I hit a recliner. Yes it was an actual reclining chair. A pick-up truck in front of me and one lane to the right was transporting two chairs, apparently they weren't strapped in and one of them came flying out of the truck. It was like slow motion I saw the chair bouncing in the road and heading towards my lane. i couldn't go to the left because of a cement median and I couldn't go to the right because there was a car there. I thought about jamming my brakes on but then i would have been hit from behind and probably still hit the recliner, so I decided to floor it and try to make it past the path the recliner was traveling. Well that didn't quite work out and i clipped the chair with my right front fender, caused $1500 in damage and i could never find the guy driving the pick-up so I had to pay my deductible to get it fixed.

I have been hit and my car was totaled. That was heart breaking. My lost speeding ticket was around 8 years ago. I do have a lead foot. I do have to keep myself in check. Last summer we traveled alot my hubby got two tickets. EEEEKS I know that feeling you just get so bad at yourself you could spit. So I sat there and said it's ok honey let it go no biggy. The second one was in Maryland and it was a total set up speed trap. That's when it makes me really mad!

I've had two tickets, one was for speeding which I really should have fought. There was no way I was doing the speed this cop said I was, just not possible on that road. The other was due to an accident. I hit someone who had put their car in park instead of pressing on the brakes at a light so it looked like they were moving as I came up towards them. This was minor and more damage was done to my car then anything.
The other accidents I've been in the drivers for the other vehicles were at fault. The accidents were far more serious and left me with a lot of physical problems. In fact one accident where I was a passenger was 2 weeks before I got my driver's license. I was 18 at the time so I've been driving for 20 years.

I have been driving 34 years and have been involved in one accident. The accident was not my fault. A car hit me when both of our lanes merged onto a bridge and she didn't stay in her lane. As for tickets, I have had one. I was in a school zone and didn't realize it! It was terribly marked and I was new in town! I try very hard to drive the posted speed limit and follow all driving laws. In my opinion, a car is kind of a 'deadly weapon'...as it can easily kill so many people.

I haven't been as fortunate as you I'm afraid. I have been driving for around 25 years and have been involved in 3 accidents (only 1 of which was my fault). I have only received 1 ticket in that time which was for the accident. I usually obey the posted speed limit especially when I have my kids in the car.

Yes, I have been in two accidents. One came close to killing me and neither were my fault. My first accident was about a month after I graduated high school in my brand new truck I had only had a week. I was driving home from my boyfriends house when a hog came out about 6 feet in front of me. It was dark and raining. I swurved to miss it and ended up doing a 180 than rolling my druck about 5 times. My truck came to rest on the edge of a ditch. The bed of my truck was hanging over the ditch with my back glass about 6 inches away from the edge. The sheriff told me had I gone into the ditch I wouldn't be alive. Luckily the only place I got hurt was a scratch on my elbow from trying to crawl out of the truck when it was upside down. Someone was looking out for me that night. Then my second accident was 4 years after that. A girl pulled out in front of me at the last minute and I T-boned her in her drivers side door. The good thing from both of these accidents was no one got hurt.
Tickets? Yes I have had them but don't remember how many. The last ticket I got was when I was in high school. That was over 10 years ago.

I was in an accident about two years after I got my drivers license. I was sitting at a red arrow waiting for it to turn green so that I could turn left. A car hit the back end of my car and continued down the side. He was going 55-60 mph when he hit my car. The kid had been to a double hitter baseball game. He fell asleep behind the wheel.
I first started driving when I was eleven and have been driving ever since. Oh I am thirty three now.

We almost had this car accident with my family,. It was raining hard and the road was slippery. My dad still goes on an average speed of 80-90. Then suddenly we reached a very sharp curve. We almost hit the tree. Thank God my dad was a great driver.

Honestly, I really do not know how to drive a car, but once I have been in a vehicular accident. Good thing that no one was badly hurt. Well, my brother was the one driving, he's the kind of guy who just hit the gas and don't bother to check the car. We are just a few blocks away from our house when I noticed that there was a noise coming from under car, I told my brother but he said it was nothing. As soon a we reached the main road, one of the back wheel got loose. It hit another vehicle, but no major damage, just a dent. We on the other hand, we're all shaken and nervous but no injuries. I'm very thankful that nothing happened to us but it served as a lesson to all of us - check the car first!

Let's see, as soon as I turned 16 ang received my DL, I got in two accidents, one fender bender and I also backed into a car.
Then, on my way to work, I was making a left turn and the car going straight and had a yellow light decided to run it and he hit me.
It was a good thing I was in a Chevy S10 Blazer at the time.
Tickets, when I was in college at my JC in SoCal, I must have gotten 3 to 4 parking tickets for parking the wrong way and I did get two speedig tickets, one going down Brea Cyn Cutoff towards the 57 Freeway in the OC and one on a residental side street in Livermore, CA coming home from work. The first ticket, I had to go to traffic school at the Sheridan Hotel in Industry and the second ticket, I paid for and did traffic school online.
