What is your favourite all time comedy show on television?
Perhaps it is going to be different where you are from? but you can tell us all about it... some shows are well known throughout the world.
I think that my all time favourite comedy show is Fawlty Towers. This is a show about a British hotel in Torquay on the South Coast of England. It is from the 70s or 80s I think but I only just saw it recently. It is hilarious. The hotel owner Basil Fawlty is played by John Cleese, (of Monty Python fame) and he is an obnoxious person but it is very very funny. His long suffering wife is called Sibil and she always is on to him lol. It is not very politically correct these days, but it just comedy.

What is your favourite all time comedy? Is it something new or something old?
What do you think about comedies that are satirical like the Daily Show? Or 2DTV. Do you prefer comedies like The Office or Little Britain? Or perhaps you like something else.
Tell us about your favourite comedy programme.

I used to love watching an English Comedy called KEEPING UP APPEARANCES. I don't know if you know it with Hyacinth Bouquet, or Mrs Bucket as they used to call her, that along with Blackadder lol. My mum's a bit of a Hyacinth lol, nt that bad but we have kind of taken the micky out of her in a good and loving way of course. She loved watching it. I can do her voice to a t lol.

Definitely, hands down, FRIENDS. It never fails to make me laugh. I have all ten seasons on DVD and I wouldn’t hesitate to watch it over again. Every time I watch it, it still makes me laugh even though I already know the punch line. Second would be Will & Grace. All of them are also hilarious and I just love Meagan. Third would be Perfect Strangers. I’m rewatching the show and reminiscing back when it was the 80s.

I have liked a few comedies or Sitcoms over the years. There have been plenty to choose from as I'm sure you are aware. I loved M*A*S*H* but not sure if it really is a comedy. It had so much drama in it as well. Then there are shows like Rosanne, Grace Under Fire, and Reba. They are great comedies with a lot in common. I think I'd have to go with Grace Under Fire as my favorite. I just relate to it in a lot of ways. I also like the humor and her style.

I probably would say, it would be "The Honeymooners" as my favorite alltime comedy with Jackie Gleason. I was not yet born while he made the old episodes but am watching them on DVD and it is hilarious.
The new one I was watching was "Friends". It is hilarious and never failed to bring a smile on my face. Sad that it had finished but after 10 years, the story had to end somehow.

Fawlty Towers, when it was on here by us(SA.) was one of my favorites, and Mr. Bean!! I also like Who's line is it anyway and sometimes Saturday Night Live. At the moment we have a channel called series, and that is a repeat of previous, old, and not so old series. The Golden girls, just love their sense of humor, and Frazier, but my all time favorite is Everybody loves Raymond, I don't miss a episode. I want to buy the whole darn series and watch it over and over! lol

Oh it is truly very funny and there is alot everyday stuff happening. Most of the time a person can relate to all of the episodes. It has ended now, so you might find it difficult to see, but for three or four years it won awards together with Frazier. Hope you can find a least one or two episodes, and I promise you, you will be hooked:)

What a fun discussion- having to recall faovrites. currently I love The Office, My Name is Earl, South Park, Family Guy. when it first started- Saturday Night Live was IT. Once John Belushi and Chevy Chase, and the rest of the cast were gone- I didn't like it anymore. It was only sometimes funny, way too often offensive. I never watch it now. Over the years I enjoyed Bob Newhart's shows-every single one, Mary Tyler Moore, MASH,Keeping Up Appearances, my absolute favorite Brit comedy was and is Absolutely Fabulous. In fact that show should have headed the list. I truly love it. Don't care how often I've seen an episode- when it went to comedy central they kept cutting into it for commercials. When I can I will buy DVDs of the show. It is timeless and just hits my funny bone best.

I think I liked "Yes Minister", a British comedy. It is not that recent, but it still gets aired on and off. I watched it several years back and liked it a bit.
This comedy shows constant intellectual and bureaucratic tussle between the Government Minister and The Government Secretary (Exective, the highest bureaucrat). This highlights the ignoranc ef the minsters and how bureaucrats play with that.
The minister is caught up between the policies of the governemnt, his political intersts and the statutory regulations. How the bureaucrats play with the ignorance of the political masters is fully depicted.
"Yes Minister" is at once a comedy, a satire and a drama. I would suggest that interested persons watch this comedy. It gives an idea of the functioning of the government at the highest level.
I don't know if I should mention silent movies of Charlie Chaplin which I liked a lot as well.

Last night I watch an old episode of "some mothers do avem"
It was so funny it had me in stitches, the way frank talked to his one year old daughter who would now be 34 years old(the babie who played his daughter that is).
Frank even kept his job for a whole week or two in this episode.

I have heard of Fawlty Towers but have never watched it. I like all types of comedy as long as it is clean and not sacreligious. I like to laugh. I enjoy 'Mr. Bean', 'Everyone Loves Raymond', 'Home Improvement', 'Mash'. I know there are more but nome come to mind right now.

Mine would probally have to be the Colbert Report, in my opion its better then the daily show. With features such as The Word and Tip of the Hat, Wag of the finger. Second place could go to Reno 911 or Mind of Mancia. Infact there are four more I can add
1. Benny Hill Show (British - not on Comedy Central)
2. Saturday Night Live (1980's upto late 1990's)
3. The Simpsons (not on Comedy Central)
4. Late night with Jon Stewart
