My little girl learned what can be accomplished by prayer. It was so cute.

My child is 5 and for a long time she has been praying before going to bed. When she started to pray a while ago we taught her the 'Now I lay me down to sleep' prayer. well, i decided she was old enough to show her how to pray herself by telling God what she's thankful for, maybe asking for something and that she loves him, etc..Well for the last 2 days she has been suffering from a pretty bad head cold and for those 2 days she asked God to put his hand upon her and heal her cold. This morning she awoke for school and after getting ready and sitting down to watch cartoons until her bus came, she looked over at me excitedly and said " mommy, I feel better now, and do you know why? I replied, "Why sweetie?" and she said because " because God put his hand on me and made it all better." She was so excited, she repeated it 4 times before her bus came.. It was so cute, I just had to share with everyone. So, what about you, does your child pray before going to bed? If so, can you remember the moment when they actually comprehended the meaningfulness of prayer?

I haven't taken care of this as well as I should have. My son often prays before meals but I am not good about reminding him at bedtime which is odd because that is when I say most of my own prayers. Congrats on teaching your little girl so well. That is great!

Thanks, I was proud of her. We just have made this part of her bedtime routine. We read a bedtime story, and then she prays before being tucked in. Be consistent with it and before long they will be reminding you, A time or 2 when I had forgotten, she reminded me. Thanks:)

Well praise God, I'm so happy for her. My family and I taught my son pretty early. I have been trying the last few months to have him pray before doing homework. We have been trying to teach him the importance of prayer in everything. I think he is finally understanding a little bit more.

Awsome story. There is nothing like hearing our children recongnize how great a God we serve. By her saying she was healed because God put His hands on her is amazing. I applaud you as a mother for teaching her this. Our children will learn what they see from us. We are the best example. If we lead a life with Christ first, they will follow in our footsteps. My children, (9,8 and 2) pray before meals, and bed. But I am in the process of teaching them that prayer should be constant communication with God. He is available 24/7.

How precious!
I'm so glad that you are teaching your little girl about God and His awesome love. That is the most important thing a parent can do for their children.
She is an inspiration!
God bless her!

I don't have any children though my special snuggle bunny has some little ones running round being holy 'but loveable' terrors. They certainly pray :) The power of prayer has long been a part of my life and I KNOW what can be accomplished with honest, sincere and earnest communication with god.

Hello dedicated_28!
My daughter too knows how to pray when she was 3 yrs old then until now, she's 5 yrs old and havn't forgotten to pray whenever she is not feeling well. She always ask God to bless our family and heal her in any pain. It such a nice feeling when you hear your child prays and so dependent to God in everything eventhough she is just a child.
There was a time too she has a fever and it last for 2 days. She just pray, "Jesus, please take my fever away and you can put it to Mama instead"..funny huh? you ask why? Because I told her that it is better that I will have fever than let her suffer. So, together with her, I uttered that prayer that I will just accept the pain instead of my daughter. :)
She asked why and I told her that Mama is older than her and I can take the pain because I'm stronger than her and I will not let her suffer. It's better that I will suffer not my child. Because I love her so much. :)
