my baby is turning one this may. i would like to make it a little fabulous for her. i want a lot of kids to join the party, lots of good food, games, noise, actions, and so on. i want it to be super happy. im thinking of clowns and maybe mascots. but i have fears some children might find them 'scary'. any suggestions or previous experiences on how i am going to handle such scenarios? thanks

care bear - care bears got to love them
kids are scared of alot of things. some are scared of big animals, clowns, dogs, cats, etc. i am sure you know this though or you wouldnt be worried about it. you could do something like a cartoon theme. we did care bears for my youngest 1st bday. she still loves them we have care bears coming out of our ears and she is 10 now lol. we had a bday party on year and we had a kid scared of barney. it was my oldest kids bday and barney had come to say hi. well the kid went under the table and didnt come back out till barney left and his mom picked him up. he just kept saying big barney no no. i thought barney was safe lol. anytime you have someone in a suit and they are big like that you are looking for a kid to get scared at that age.

Maybe mascot is better than clowns, some lid afraid of clowns. You can an magician for kid or just a party with a lot of balloons, big birthday cake for every body and all your little friend for her. Good luck with that, i hope this is will help you

It's my daughter's 1st birthday in June & we're having a more quiet one, i figured it'd be better for her if we didn't go crazy for a birthday she wont remember anyway! We're doing a Pooh theme for her, a nice cake, streamers, balloons & stuff but i don't think we'll go too mad with everything, family only - well, the party will be my side of the family anyway coz we cant bring both sides together & with my partner's family having SOOO many kids, i wont have them here coz they're all too destructive. If i was going all out like you, i like the idea of a magician although at that age they wont pay attention anyway, maybe go with a mascot (someone dressed as a disney princess might work) rather than a clown. The chance of kids being scared about big things is could be the reason i'm not going all out for b'day #1! Good luck!
