I also has persistant acne for years... I have tried everything... I am allergic to all the cycline meds, which all oral acne treatments or cyclines. I tried all kinds of perscribed topicals, over the counter topicals, facewashed but none worked. I finally have clear skin. I use Unscented bar dove soap and a topical perscription called tazorac.. its wonderful.

For stubborn acne, avoid self medication since trial and error of over the counter products could sometimes make the problem even worse.. you may want to go to a credible dermatologist so he or she could prescribe either topical or medicines that you could take internally to control the problem.. it would definitely save you more money, time and regrets later on.. =)

I had persistent acne and staff infections that nothing could help. Basically, to keep it under control, I keep the area as clean as possible. Then, I can use certain creams, but one has to watch out with that because creams can plug up the pores. But, when it got really bad, I went on antibiotics, which really didn't work. My doctor wanted to put me on something like Cyclosporin, but I didn't want to because of the side effects.
But, if you are still having a problem, I would see a doctor.
