Do you flush every time after using the toilet? My husband doesn't, and it drives me nuts! Okay, so he doesn't want to wake the kids so sometimes he won't flush in the early mornings, but geez, I wish he would as I get tired of seeing his "presents" when I go to the bathroom in the mornings. I have told him to flush it anyway and not to worry about the noise, as I find it disgusting. After I complained he doesn't do it anywhere like he used to, but when he is running late for work he may forget, leaving me to do the 'dirty work'. Yuck! Anyone else do this or know someone that does? Does it drive you crazy? Please be honest and share your thoughts.

I would NOT accept that. Not flushing is disgusting and I would not care about waking the kids, they probably wouldn´t wake up from it anyways =)

yup. i guess so, too. and if ever they will, they can easily go back to sleep. or maybe, her husband is just using it for his reason of not flushing at all.

I have flushed it in the early mornings and it never woke up my husband or the kids. But like I said, my husband is getting better about flushing the toilet. It did happen today, but before this it hasn't happened in a while. It used to be on a daily basis, unless of course we have company, then he'll flush every single time. (And no, I don't want company over every day just to get hubby to flush the toilet LOL).

Holy baby! Of course everyone should flush the toilet after use! How disgusting, if you ask me. Your husband shouldn't feel proud of such habits. You should try to change him - tell him how the kids will pick up the bads things from him. If he wants to be a good father, he should change.
If he is afraid to wake the kids up, then prepare a pail of water before he sleeps - just pour the pail of water to generate a swirl and it is almost as good as a flush.

I wouldn't say he's proud of this habit, rather just rushed in the mornings getting ready for work. He used to leave his 'presents' at least twice a day, but since I've complained so much in the past, he does it a lot less now.
By the way, I thought you were going to say "prepare a pail of water before he sleeps - just pour the pail"... on top of his head if he forgets to flush the toilet! LOL

I know exactly how you feel. My partner and I live in a college dorm and we have a mysterious non flusher on our floor. At least we think they're on this floor... Anyway... several times a day we'll come across the toliet not being flushed. We don't know who it is but it's gross and it irks us to no end.

Yeah, it does. Specifically, on public toilets. I'm very particular with the cleanliness of before using it. =)

I don't have too much trouble with public bathrooms. Probably because I avoid using them as much as possible. In fact the last time I used one was 7 years ago. And it was only because I had to since it was at my doctor's appointment when I was pregnant with my youngest son.

My two sons did that all the time. No matter how many times I tell them the have to flush the toliet every time the use it the don't. It is very disgusting. I have even tried to hollar at them to remind them to flush when I see them go in but they still don't. Its as if their afraid to touch the handle. If you ask them why they didn't flush they always say " I forgot". This is very annoying.

I always flush the toilet. It's a habit and I want others to have that habit too. I think it is completely gross and disgusting when someone doesn't flush. I would have told him he better start flushing or else. Ewww that would drive me crazy.

oh, i am lucky i have my younger brothers who know how to flush the toilet after using them and parents who know how to flush, too. no need to remind them to flush their "presents" away - that's a good term for that, thanks! hehe. they just do it automatically or maybe, out of habit already.
i hope your husband does you a favor one day of flushing his own presents. you are a wife not his maid. hehe. anyway, try to talk to him about it some more.
happy myLotting!

my gosh. he did not say anything? hmm. well, let's just hope it won't really backfire on you. if so, update that. hehe. i just hope it won't and that your husband will start flushing. it would be fun if you one day start a discussion saying "my husband finally knows how to flush a toilet!" hehe. and well, hope your husband won't get pissed off on us. just kidding!
anyway, still, thank you for the term. i don't think i will use it with my future husband. he really knows how to flush. hehe.
take care... see you more around!

I did more than talk to my husband about it, I actually showed him some of the responses on here. Hopefully this has helped him see the light. I certainly hope doing this isn't going to backfire on me as he didn't say much about it afterwards! :P
I'm glad you liked my little term. LOL I hope you don't need to refer to it in the future! :P

Luckily I don't live with anyone that does that but have witnessed it many times in my life. I find it to be very disgusting and rude. My aunt actually does that all of the time, it's so wrong. I can understand if you're in a rush or just forget every once in a LONG while but not regularly. There's no excuse for that, ugh.

I guess that's why I can't get too mad at my husband if he does leave his "presents" in the toilet before going to work every once in a while. He is sometimes in a rush in the mornings. But when he'd do it after work when he is home for the rest of the day...there is NO excuse for that. :P Thank goodness he doesn't do that anymore (knock on wood).

my husband is the same...he won't flush the toilet in the morning...he gets ready for work...go in the bathroom, turns on the shower and forgets to flush..it is nasty...I have told him plenty of times..but he resists on saying he forgets, because,he doesn't want to make the shower water hot, after flushing...well,why can't he wait and go potty...than turn on the shower..I don't get it..it is very annoying.

My husband used to do this as well. I'd end up smelling his 'presents' mixed with a hot shower. Talk about nasty! :P

I know that it sounds disgusting, but coming from the UK where water rates are really expensive and we are always having water shortages (sigh). But I grew up with the saying 'if its yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down'. As I live on my own, I don't think I need to flush all the time. Also, if a person drinks a lot of water, then when you go, it's not that yellow.

My husband does tell me he has work on his mind a lot, so I'm assuming that's what he's thinking about, leaving him to forget the toilet flushing before heading off for work sometimes. He knows better than to do the opposite of what I say, especially when it comes to something as gross as a dirty used toilet. :P

Its really disgusting to see an unflushed toilet. I always wanted to enter a clean comfort room. If i enter a dirty one, even if i need to pee i wont, instead i would drive to another place just to find a clean one. There are lots of virus with dirty toilets which women should be careful about.
With your case, its hard if your husband always forget. I hope he would remember. Maybe you could put a small colorful NOTE in the Restroom like "Always Flush the Toilet" to remind him of it. :P

That is a good idea, but I don't know if it would work in the mornings as sometimes he leaves the light off. :P Thanks for the tip though, I'll have to remember it! :)

Wow, how did you manage to get the guys in your household to close the toilet seat each time? And they flush every time after they use it? You certainly are lucky!

You said it! I don't even like to look at my own stuff in there, why would I want to look at someone else's? I know the one that leaves me these 'presents' is my husband, but I'd rather have no gift at all from him than to have to deal with the 'gifts' he leaves me in the toilet.

Don't even get me started on the smell!!! With the lid being down (yes, my husband actually closes the lid LOL) the smell along with his 'gift' gets trapped inside the toilet and then upon opening the lid, the horrible smell is released! Ewwwwwwwwwww! :(

Oh sacmom, I don't know whether to laugh or not. I'm sorry, I know there's nothing funny about having those "presents' all the time. Fortunately for me, no one in my household have this habit. Nobody can escaped from me easily like that should they forgot to flush the toilet.
I suggest you put a note inside the bathroom so your husband can see it right away. I think it will take a millionth times of reminding your husband about this bad habit. It seems he is so used to it already.

I try to remember to flush everytime I use the restroom, however sometimes when i'm in a hurry i've caught myself leaving without flushing. My husband always flushing, i just hate it when he leaves the seat up. i think its something we will never cure our husbands of.

My husband does that!! I hate that. I used to nag him about it all the time so he has gotten better. He still does it if he is rushing or he is watching something he wants to hurry up and get back to. Now I can not lie, I may have done that once when I was rushing to work but that's it. He has did it way more than me. I hate the smell of urine that has been sitting in a toilet for a while. Yuck? Doesn't it seem like it's men that do this the most?

I feel better that I am not the only one who has a husband that does this! I did just about everything I could think of to get him to stop, including leaving 'presents' from me for him to find, but that just made the situation worse, not better, so I don't do that anymore.
It sure does seem like men are the ones that do this the most. But then again, it's probably because I'm a woman and I don't like un flushed toilets. I never have and I never will.
