Tap Water Good Or Bad - Do You Drink Bottled or Tap

Do you drink tap water or bottled water?I've come to the conclusion that our tap water has been messing up my water works! For years I've been 'going to the loo' too often, it's not down to a weak bladder and the op I had recently showed no signs of any problems I can only put it down to 'nerves' However a friend of mine on the retreat suggested that it could be tap water causing the problems! If you think about it, what does tap water do to your kettles? Laden them with limescale. What does tap water do to your washing machines? Washing machines are ruined due to limescale deposits, you only have to see the ads on television promoting Calgon and the state of the insides of washing machines So therefore if tap water is causing this damage, what is it doing to our insides? My friend said that it could be a build up of limescale in my bladder causing the problems Myth or Fact? Needless to say I have given up tap water and he says to give it 2 months to see if there is any difference, giving my body time to flush away the limescale.

Personally I drink tap water honey - but up here in Scotland our water is a lot softer and we don't really have limescale problems! When I lived in London I couldn't and wouldn't dink the water - it was awful and I could see all the limescale like you said in kettles and things! As to whether it could be causing you bladder problems - I am no expert honey but I would say it was very possible! Keep up the bottled stuff or try a filter and I hope things improve for you sweets - I hate to think of you suffering! xxx

As you know pal I live in Central Scotland and the water here is soft and clean , I buy bottled water for Ross now and again but sometimes I just refill them a few times , I had an aunt lived in folkstone years ago and she had to throw kettles ans irons out because they got clogged up with lime scale yuck !!

Well perhaps there is some truth in your friend's theory, but have to admit that I've been drinking tap water here in London for years and years, with no ill-effects. I truly resent the idea of spending money to buy an over-priced bottle of something I can get for nothing out of the tap. The only time I couldn't drink tap-water, was when I lived on the Isle of Skye, because their water is very soft with a definate peaty" taste to it, and it actually made me physically sick if I drank it. Maybe you could invest in a water filter from John Lewis or somewhere? That way you sould use tap water, but filter out the calcium deposits etc first. Do let us know how your experiment goes though.

Wow, I've never thought about all that before, but it's a really good point. I try to drink bottled water mostly, but I do drink tap water too. Maybe I should also try cutting out tap water for a couple months and see if there is any difference. You'll have to keep us updated on how it works out!

I wont drink tap water unless I have to, my water is hard and leaves hard water deposits on the pipes I cant imagine drinking it. I do have a water filter but prefer bottled water.

I hate to go against you friend, but I have actually watched a 20/20 show about this. They reported that tap water really is no different from bottled water. It is just tap water from a manufacture plant or sometimes just from a public drinking water system from another state...in other words...tap water from another state. Yes, water tastes different from one location to another. But if it is going through a public system and you are not on well water, public works has a quality level to sustain...along with legal laws that samples must pass. Just because water comes in a bottle...does not mean it is filtered. Here is an interesting web site... http://www.nrdc.org/water/drinking/qbw.asp#safer On another note...and this may be more personal. Sorry. But you may want to consider having your prostate checked. Men can have prostate problems as early as 21 years of age. If you are feeling that this problem is getting worse, please go see a doctor. Because if it is anything to be concerned with...early detection is the best possible result!

Here is one more source for you.... You need to remember, that coffee pots and washing machines do not have the acids that break things down like our bodies do. http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/dwq/chemicals/en/hardness.pdf Quote: "EFFECTS ON HUMANS There does not appear to be any convincing evidence that water hardness causes adverse health effects in humans. In contrast, the results of a number of epidemiological studies have suggested that water hardness may protect against disease. However, the available data are inadequate to prove any causal association."

No I don't drink tap water .. it makes me feel like I've been drinking glue .. makes me very thirsty .. and a bit nauseas .. but I can't afford bottled water so have a home filter .. Wolfie .. when our water changed a few years ago .. many of the pet cats and dogs started having waterworks problems .. and we were all told to filter our pets drinking water .. Get yourself a filter jug .. they aren't expensive .. use the filtered water for all your drinking and cooking needs .. your tea and coffee will be MUCH nicer .. no scum or sticking to the sides of the mug ... Hope you'll soon be feeling the benefits of having filtered water .. :o)

from where i am, almost everyone here is using tap water. i am in davao city, philippines, and our water here is still very good, clean and tastes perfectly. if only it will be a question of potability, we are sure that we are living in an area wherein this is of no concern that can disrupt us in anyway as regards water in this context.

Hi Wolfie, :) We use well water and it tastes terrible. i bought a filter for it. that makes it tastes better. but when i can I do buy bottled water. Some times we go to the beach and on the way is this fountain of clean spring water. we fill up our bottles with that water. it tastes wonderful. Wish i lived closer to that area.

Well for many years i thought that the tap water are doing my body wrong, i always had stomach aches and was nuthouse a few days after i drank the tap water, so i switched to mineral water and i drank that for years. I do not know what happend, either my body had some changes, or i maybe they changes something in the tap water, but in this two months that i am living at home, i drink tap water and everything is fine, i do not really know how to explain this. Maybe it was all in the head.

In Singapore, tap water is very safe to drink. I know this is not the case in many other countries. However, I still boil my water anyway. Yea I guess I am paranoid. In fact, most households in Singapore boil their water or use some kind of extra filters too - even though tap water is certified to be very clean.

I drink tap water because I think bottled water is probably the biggest rip off around! However, the tap water in Scotland tastes so much better than it does down South and our water is soft so we don't have the same degree of limescale. I'm in England quite frequently and the further South I go the worse the tap water seems to taste. There again if I drank it all the time I guess I would get used to it. I'm not sure about your particular problem. Like so many things I would imagine the human body has some clever means of dealing with limescale deposits before they start clogging us up but I don't know. I've never read anything about this specific problem anyway. Although you would think if it was that then thousands of people would suffer from it wouldn't you? Maybe they do of course but just don't realise it yet.

Where I live we use bottled water as its safer. But when ever I visit UK I'll drink the tap water. Although I have to say the tap water where my mother in law lives (on the outskirts of London, Surrey)is horrible, way too much clorine! Where my mum lives it's not to bad, but still abit cloriney! So its probably true that the water is affecting your insides, let us know how your little experiment goes!

Its bottled water for us, we dont trust tap water. Several instances in the past where we blame the tap water for the cause of the hospitalization of my kids. Its better to be sure especially if its water.

Tap water is bad man. Very bad, it wrecks up the system. Especially here in india it's very dirty so we need to fit filters inside the ome itself. and these are expensive
