Vehicle Penalties

What do you think about these vehicle penalties that are being introduced in Canada? If you buy a non fuel-efficient vehicle there is a penalty applied - up to $4000.00. If you do buy a fuel-efficient car you get a rebate of up to $2000.00.
Would it affect what and how you buy?

I think it is a joke. Totaly ridiculous
Sure would make a person think twice about the type of vehicle they were purchasing.
Bad enough we have to pay GST and PST on them.
The price of buying a new vehicle is outrageous. Since my hubby requires a truck for his business and I need one to haul the 5th wheel The prices of new trucks are outrageous to say the least.
Now you can't even buy a truck with a regular 8' foot box. They are all the stupid short box deals which is like totally useless for us.
