Shrek to be ousted?

I can't believe what I just read on the MSNBC.com website! The "Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood" is trying to force Shrek out of being a role model to fight obesity in children saying that he promotes junk food and the such. Oh my goodness! He's a cartoon! The article states that Shrek is supposed to appear in ads promoting exercise which I personally think is FABULOUS!! Shrek is big, and clumsy (not athletic looking at all). It's good for kids to see that you don't have to look like Bruce Jenner (oops, showing my age there) to run and play games.
If you don't want your kids to associate "Shrek" happy meal toys with bad food then don't take them to McDonald's. If you're that concerned with their health then you won't be at McD's getting happy meals to start with.
Are people just running out of things to complain about?

I know obesity is a huge problem here, but good grief, instead of blaming fictional characters, stop feeding your kids junk! Wasn't there something recently too about cookie monster no longer eating cookies? C is for cookie!

I read the cookie monster story too!!! Isn't it crazy! There's another discussion on here about Bratz dolls and while I don't particularly care for them I take no issue with parents who get them for their kids. I mean, if I'm parent enough to NOT let my kids dress like their toys then I should be parent enough to NOT let me kids eat too many cookies like cookie monster.
How about they lay off Shrek and Bugs Bunny (for being too violent) and start taking Pepsi out of the elementary school vending machines!
This is getting ridiculous.
