"Deception Point" is a very good novel. I read all of Dan Brown's books after the "Da Vinci Code." Can't wait till his next book comes out. He really draws you into his stories. I find it nearly impossible to put his books down.

I have liked the Dan Brown novels I have read but I have not read Deception Point. Most of my friends liked Angels and Demons best.

I used to do the same thing when I was a student and just needed something to read as a kind of release. I grew to love youth novels because of this. Crayon Sinchan sounds good.

I am reading a book titled "Inside 9/11" . It is a very accurate account of how the terrorists that attached the Twin Towers on 9/11 trained and lived here in the US while they planned the attack and it gives accounts of what it was truly like inside those buildings from people who survived the horror of that day. It is an excelllent book and I am very interested in it.
It was a gift from my in-laws at Christmas time as they know that I was very touched that day with the amazing heroic efforts of the firemen and policemen who entered those buildings knowing that they might not survive. Also, I love to read books like that. Ihave tow other books that I am hoping to read very shortly and I hope that I can finish this one by the end of the weekend.
I am also going to be reading "In His Steps" as my daughter has to read it for her language arts program and I will be having to teach on it. I think it will be a good book too as it was writen in the 1800's and is still around today.

My favorite book is by Jeffery Archer. I also love books read by Tom clancy and the likes, and also by Gerald seymour.
I mostly like books that have a tech kind of nature, like those of Robin cook.

I am two chapters in to Barbara Erskine's "Daughters of Fire", her latest novel.
I loved all of her previous books, especially Sands of Time - she writes very well, using a lot of historical detail but always with a mystical, spiritual or even ghostly slant. I also find that when my head is busy and can't settle, she's always a really good author to take off the shelf - she's so detailed you have to focus!
Although I haven't got too far into the book it does seem very interesting and with a good tale, so yes, I'd definitely recommend it to friends!
I picked it up at my local library - when I walked past the "new books" counter to get to the main counter, it just shone out!

It is great to have a 'go-to' author like that. I know exactly what you mean by that.
I have not read any of hers but I think I will someday. Her books have come up many times as options in one of my bookclubs.
Thanks for the response.

I am currently reading "Strange Candy" by Laurell K. Hamilton. I chose it because Laurell K. Hamilton is one of my favorite authors. I like her Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series. This book is a book of short stories. I usually don't like short stories, but this one is all right. I'd recommend it if you are into horror and short stories.

I'm reading "Gone" by Jonathan Kellerman. It is one of the Alex Delaware series of books. I am enjoying it, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys mystery/thriller books.

Isn't Kellerman a psychologist that turned author (or do I have hime confussed with another author). If he is the one I am thinking of, I have heard that his insights make his books very interesting.
Thank you for sharing/responding.

I am starting a book called Slavery Now and Then by Danny Smith. I have not read much yet so I am not sure how good it is yet but it is basically about modern slavery in the context of the Transatlantic slave trade! I have been looking for this type of book since I discovered that the slave trade is very much alive and kicking! The idea of people profitting from the misery and suffering of fellow humans appals and sickens me!

I started reading The Forest House by Marion Zimmer Bradley yesterday and then the book I'm suppose to review showed up so I'll probably read that first and then go back to The Forest House. :)
Before that I read a book on Cleopatra called When We Were Gods (or something like that). It wasn't too bad.

My neighbor is currently reading The Forest House. She shares her books with me if they are really good.

I sent you a message with the info on the review thing. ;)
The book I'm reviewing is the third Maximum Ride book by James Patterson. My 16yo read it last night and really liked it so now I get to read it. I think we'll probably end up getting the first two books from the library so we know what's going on! lol.

Although I love novels, right now I am reading a book called "Cobra II" which is a nonfiction account of how the US got into the war in Iraq and the planning at the Pentagon. It's a very disheartening book (as is the war) but it does show how Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld was managing things and imposing his ideas on the military (virtually preventing them from conducting operations the way they believed to be best at the beginning of the war). It shows, much like the current administration today, how disconnected from reality the planners were. I guess that I just had so many questions about the war and how the heck the US ended up in this mess, that I felt I had to read something. The book is written by a former general and a New York Times reporter. It's good, but a little dense.

Thanks for the response. It doesn't sound like a book I would choose to read. But I might get to a point, like you, when I want to have some questions answered.

I'm not much of a reader to be honest. I usually take ages to finish a book. That is, WHEN I finish a book! Hahaha! :)
But lately I've finished Stephen King's Rose Madder. It was pretty cool. I usually like his books, as he is never very predictable and his stories are full of tension. It's not considered as one of his best books, but I liked it very much.
Right now, I'm trying to finish Angels & Demons (Dan Brown). The first 70 pages were very exciting and interesting. Let's see how long I'll take to finish it! :D
